this little friend of gardeners is very hard working,
never take time off, never shirking,
never talk back, never rely on luck,
just loves to be working in the muck,
never asks for anything only to be left alone,
he keeps on working when we all go home,
just keeps on going for a very long term,

Love the poem - love the worms! We encountered very few here when we started trying to dig into the compacted soil that was, for years, an animal compound and had never been 'worked' but now - three years later and after our constant digging and growing, we can't turn over a spadeful of earth without finding several worms. Brilliant creatures - I'm sure they're working harder than us!
