What is it I asked?

I took this when visiting a friend, I think it was in July this year.. She was bemoaning the fact that her beloved old apple tree was coming to its end and she was contemplating cutting it down completely. However, she has decided not to do this until it looks to dangerous to stay. What I found interesting was the fungi that had developed where a branch had been loped off.
My son thinks its called “chicken of the wood”.

I think that is mistletoe as well, Spritzhenry. Don't know about 'chicken in the wood' but it looks interesting. I am glad that your friend is not going to chop down this tree, stroller.

Yes folks it is mistletoe which she seems to have in abundance on this and other old apple trees. She sells it locally proceeds to MacMillan nurses and cancer research funds.
