Nutty... gardening in the rain

Is anyone else as nutty as I am? Digging and planting in the rain.. lol. Soooo fed up with all this rain and wind but decided yesterday to visit gc and came out with a nicely washed, waxed and valeted car and a few new plants. And tonight whilst the rain has stopped decided to photograph my new purchases… in my dressing gown lol. But to blog or add photos? Never know which is best. So will do a blog but also add photos, so please forgive me for adding them to my plants which is really for my own records.

Choisya ‘Sundance’, now after planting in a position to hide a tree trunk (I don’t know what the tree was but it smells vile.. a bit like cat poo.. and it keeps sprouting), I think I might move it to the back as I think it might grow quite big in time . This shrub is a evergreen and I liked the lime green foliage, it should produce white flowers in the spring/early summer.

Salvia nemerosa Caradonna… I love the deep purple of this plant.

Erica arborea ‘Alberts Gold’.. love the golden colour of this tree heath..

Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’.. I sooo love bright orange flowers such as these. Difficult to photograph at this time of night..

Lavender Hidcote

Astilbe ‘Drum and Bass’

Phygelius ‘Funfare series’.. love the trumpet flowers of these, a semi-evergreen

Penstemon ‘Sea Red’.. something nice and bright..

And one last photo of the sad side of my garden, under water.. this is very upsetting :(

All photographed this evening so colours not really as they should be, but had the urge to do it! Lol :D

Great blog Suzy, you have some lovely plants there. I have that Choisya, and it does smell horrible I think. It makes up for it by being so colourful.

I`ve been out in the rain tonight until it came down too hard Suzy, its a case of having to this year isn`t it, I don`t mind if its not cold as well.
Good choice of plants and the photo`s are really good...

Remember to cover that Choisya up next winter Susy, I bought one about the same size and the cold killed it in
my insulated cold greenhouse.

I can understand just wanting to get out there regardless Suzy. That last picture looks like a bog garden though ! I would worry about that tree stump 'smelling like cat poo' that does not sound good.

We were also out in the rain yesterday gardening, I was weeding the shingle out the front, and hubby was revamping the border nearest to the front door!

Thanks everyone.. Pimp when it was a tree it smelt like that everytime it was cut back, no idea what it was but it produced 'cauliflower' looking flowers. When I had the fences put up earlier in the year the men commented on the 'cat pooh corner' and they didn't believe me when I said its not cats its the tree stump.

Lovely plants there Suzy....I quite often do things in the garden when it's raining. I like weeding in the rain - they come up much more easy.
My garden is like yours at the moment - only a little deeper!!
