The lady of the garden!

Hi all, I’m sure all of us have a favorite plant or ornament in our gardens that we have cherished through the years. Mine is a statue of a lady, I found her about twenty years ago and fell in love with her. When I look at my lady I wonder what she is thinking in such deep contemplation. Maybe a long ago lover or her children now all flown from the nest. I will never know! but she has looked over my gardens for all those years. Her first garden was a tiny back yard we had with our first flat. She didn’t have her podium then, so her view must of been very limited. Then she came with us to the small garden at Rose Cottage, by then she was starting to show her age but some how that just made her lovelier.
Now she looks back down the years in her resting place in the garden at our bungalow in Devon.

or maybe Oliveoil she is thinking I'm glad I'm up here just looking on. LOL She is a little weather worn now but I love that she brings some age to the garden.

Thanks Teds, glad you like it. We've been able to enjoy it more, this summer, with the warmer weather.

She really is very lovely Teds. I would like one just like her, but you never see them except for thousands!

that is a very nice lady. I keep looking for a good statue for the garden but as yet not found one, not as nice as yours anyway.

She's lovely Teds, and how much more iompressive she is on her podium - she could tell a tale or two about your pretty gardens!

She is looking very thoughtful Teds and yes is a lovely lady, my favourite has to be my stone birdbath, it was made to commemorate the year the Humber Bridge was opened and came from near there, the same year, it has the date carved into one of the pieces, I'm a big softie and do cling on to things like that no matter how weathered and worn they look along with all the memories that go with them, some of mine have been here since my kids were little and they are all now in their forties....

This statue looks very much like a rendering from a art nouveau painting by an artist who went by the name Alphonse Mucha. Looking at the close up of her face she looks like someone who has been sheltered in a beautiful garden for the past twenty years and had just watched one hour of the evening news. I see a look of disbelief in her face.

Hi Cottagekarer, I know just what you mean we brought her for about £50 20 years ago, I dread to think what she would cost now. Have you thought about looking in a reclamation yard or a recycling deport. We were just piped to the post the other day at our local recycling deport. The car in font of us made off with a lovely statue in the boot. The workmen at our deport put things in a shed if they think someone may like it and it goes for a song. Loads of garden plastic pots that just need a good wash too and iron garden tables and chairs that just need a rub down and a re paint. May be worth a look :-)

Hi Linclass we have a bird bath to it was left by the previous owners of the bungalow and has the three graces going round it. It is well worn but I love the oldness of it.

I know just what you mean loosestrife!

Thank you all for your comments, its good to have some time at last to be back on GOY.

She is lovely Teds ! Its like she is looking after your garden. We have a few garden statues, only small though, but my favourite which is bigger than the rest is my old shepherd with his dog.
