HARD AT WORK

Just to prove to everyone I dont spend ALL day blogging with The Moonies..I thought I would just show you some of my new pottings and several exciting developments in the greenhouse.
First, I am thrilled with the new growth on my Peony Molly the Witch, a kind gift from a special and talented Goyer and his sidekick Jamie.

Molly The Witch.

Then we move to my new Potentillas (some of which are still sat in the rain)

Potentilla Miss Wilmott

We move to my new cuttings from a geranium in the garden..all are sprouting well…

Geranium Boh. Orchid Blue

Then there is today’s labour…

Spider Lilies

Oriental Poppies (top) Echinacea (Under)

Lobelia Vedrariensis

And finally, I proudly unveil…Dah Dah!

The first appearance of my very first oriental poppy root cutting (hopefully there will be more!) a la Carol Klein!

Drat forgot to take a picture of my posh new potting tray…later!

So you see, Im not ALL talk and no action!

Things are really sprouting nicely, M. You've been busy and I'm sure you'll be rewarded with some lovely plants as they mature.

I'm very impressed with the root cutting - and I see it's 'Patty's Plum'. What good taste you have, Tetra. :-))

2 Feb, 2011

I noticed Patties Plum also Spritz, one of my favourite colours & does well here in my heavy soil.
Great photo's & nice blog TT. These are the best shots for me to see pot's of green shoots & leaves sprouting. Magic.

Lol! Everybody..how did you guess Sticki, an extension of the glasshouse no less with BA as the guard! Lulu, Im not good with seeds just about to plant some that have instructions and those that dont Ive been asking everyone else, sorry hun!
Ive come to the conclusion that there is nothing more satisfying than making things grow Hywel..well maybe one or two things, but its high on the list.
Lol Sandra, knew someone would cotton on to my secret..a crafty one in the greenhouse! I seem to have a lot of weeds around, does that qualify? (Shsssh!)
You could be getting your poppies yet Jacquie! This is the first, but hopefully not the last.
Tell you the truth Spritz, Im fairly impressed too! I didnt think it would work..but its as easy as Carol Klein said it would be. The major problem was digging up the plant..my soil was a lot claggier than hers, so had a job getting the roots in the first place! We've worked the soil a fair bit, but its still pretty heavy. I do like Pattys Plum, its a stunning colour and it goes a silver grey when dying off doesnt it. But Ive also done my lovely pink one (no name) and Beauty of Livermere and Turkenlouis..just need to do Princess Victoria Louise. What a mouthful these names are!

Well someones gotta be good with seeds. Hubby just given me a hot toddy......can hardly typeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2 Feb, 2011

Now THATS an idea Lulu, Ive come down with your cold, so I think I might have a healthy slosh of Drambuie!

2 Feb, 2011

I have had 2 now, hot toddies, so it's off to bed..............sleep well, hic, sweet drams, or should it be dreams!

2 Feb, 2011

Nite nite, hope the bed dogs dont bite!lol

I was hoping to plant a lot of seeds from my garden in March. It is a first time for me. I have kept them in paper bags in a dry place. Do I have to put them in the fridge first??? My husband might object.

2 Feb, 2011

Not really sure Linda, but people do say store them in the fridge..(put them in a coloured tupperware at the back..he might not notice..and after all they are airtight! A lot of seeds are for sewing Febuary/March, especially if they are generally hardy (annuals or perennials). Im no expert, but if there is no one to ask, thats what I would do.

2 Feb, 2011

Actually, Carol Klein's mother used to break off bits of plants and shove them in the earth and invariably they would take..which begs the question, what have you got to lose? you dont have to sow them all at once...and tell his lordship its your fridge too lol!

4 Feb, 2011

I am well impressed with all your hard work, OH does all that sort of thing, I am the garden designer lol!!!
We grow all our roses by just sticking them in the border next to the path, works every time......

5 Feb, 2011

I really must try that Dd, I presume round about now would be good..

6 Feb, 2011

Brillant pics nice to see you busy keep up the good work and fingers crossed for your oriental poppy :)

6 Feb, 2011

Why is it when you really feel ill, or want a dentist urgently, or your puter breaks down or your tv....its ALWAYS on a weekend. If this disappears halfway thru..you will know its my puter..
Ive stuck my first bit of rose in the garden DD, was out there today, more tidying, cut a bit off and thought..I'll do this! I also trimmed the honeysuckle and clematis on my arch, a lot of dead stuff there..it was already sprouting so although I know its not the right time of year, I did a couple of pots with half doz of each plant per pot..will let you know if they survive!!
Thanks Jewells, still only got one showing thru but all goo

6 Feb, 2011

what do you do with these rose bits? are you pruning them and sticking the cut off bits in the soil - easy as that?
whats wrong with the puter tet?

6 Feb, 2011

Hi Sticki, back again..for how long, dunno! Some glitch which keeps crashing pages..sort today hopefully. Those rose bits, yes thats what Ive done..whether its as easy as that will let you know if it makes roots!

7 Feb, 2011

well i shall give it a go ~ cant lose anything by trying! thanks! hope your computer is mended soon ~ drives me mad when i lose internet. mind you i actually get things done in the house then!!!

7 Feb, 2011

7 Feb, 2011

Just caught up with this blog, well done on being so productive with your cuttings. Puts me to shame! But I have been decorating indoors, too miserable to be outside. : o )

7 Feb, 2011

OH normally does his roses in September and it can take two years before they root, so patience my dear is all!! good luck with your pc..........mine still trying to find all the lost files.

9 Feb, 2011

Thanks Shirley, in fact we are doing both things at present, or at least OH is. He has painted hall ceiling and I shall shortly be doing the paintwork on doors and stairs, and he will do the tops and bottoms of everything cos I can't reach or get down on the floor! So I will do an hour in the greenhouse an hour painting, bit of cooking, bit of greenhouse..I wont paint in the evening cos my sight not so good in artificial light which means my painting is patchy!! It will probably take us a fortnight to do the hall stairs and landing..but hey..whats the rush?

I will try again in Sept DD, I presume I leave a bud at the bottom to put into soil and a bud at the top? I might put them in small pots cos next door's cat tends to dig up things not strongly anchored!
