Rose of Jericho, Resurrection plant.

This was a Christmas present to my youngest from his granny.
Also sold as a dinosaur plant. They live in the desert and dry up and close all their leaves when there is no moisture around.
As soon as it rains they open up again and turn green making the most of the water that is available.
He has been sat in a bowl of water on the kitchen window sill for the past 48 hours.
If you go to youtube and do a search on there , you will find some that have been filmed using time lapse photography which shows them opening up over a period of 12 hours.
Fantastic for young children to grow.

Do you eventually plant them in soil?

This is a nice change from those plastic eggs to which you add water to grow your own fish, or even dinosaur! And quicker, too!

You can plant them in soil, keeping it moist and if it does dry out the plant curls up again and hibernates, then you can water it again and the thing springs back to life, great plant for kids
