Two turtle doves...

Ok so they’re just pigeons but these are the first feathered visitors I’ve seen since putting up the bird feeder.

Now that the pigeons have found the feeders I’m hoping they pass the news around. There’s definitely a blackbird in the area – I hear it every morning from just after 4 am – I’m guessing that birds in the area are happy in the ‘woodland’ along the railway embankment across the road without feeling the need to come round the houses.

Thanks Snoop - they were a bit sleeker than the usual flying vermin but I'm just pleased that something has found the feeding station. It's only taken 3 months.

It takes a few days for birds to find the food , then once they find it you ll have lots.:o))

They are collared doves and I enjoy seeing them
the bluetits especially do not like corn in the feeders and we've watched them toss it away , the blackbirds being ground feeders clear it ups, the doves too but they try to hang on the feeders and their antics are so funny to watch :0)

They are collared doves. My Nan always liked the doves in her garden.

Once they find the food is there they'll keep coming back, the blackbird prefers to eat from the ground so you'll probably find blackie under the feeder catching the food thats falling, you'll have a friend for all time if you put a tray down for them as well.........

Agree collared doves, we get many here. The adage of Build it and they will come - I've no doubt once word gets around you'll be swamped.
I agree with Lincslass too - a wee ground feeder tray will attract the blackbirds.

As long as there aren't any cats lurking...

I hear them singing but the birds aren't visible. There is quite a bit of open space around, apart from the railway line, there is a small park 200 yards away and a school playing field 200 yards in another direction - all three have good selection of trees and shrubs.

I was honoured yesterday tea time by a visit from a pair of blackbirds. Really thrilled - but I didn't dare move to pick up a camera in case i startled them.
