Tiny tadpoles

Aw babies....where will you put them , won't they need to 'imprint' on the pond as frogs?

They're in pond water they hatched in and I'll re-introduce them into the pond long before they reach froghood -I'm just trying to give them a bit of a head start. I'll get some pond netting during the week to keep the cats out.

There's a 6ft wall around my garden and a busy road and about 400 yards back to where they were spawned - some articles I've been reading say that they go back to breed in the pond where they hatched, others say it's the pond where they spawned.

Can you not do it the same way as one would introduce a fish by using a plastic bag and floating it on the pond for approx. 30mins, that way the water reaches the same temp..
We started out with a jamjar full of spawn donated from a pal of my son's 32yrs ago and have never been without since, lol.....

They are nice aren't they? We had some for the first time this year, so at least two frogs didn't go back to the pond they were spawned in! There were hundreds a week ago but not many left now - looks as though the fish are eating them. I hope some survive - shuld have taken a leaf out of your book and decanted some into another container.

You should have no trouble with slugs this year if a lot of those survive!

My neighour rescued some spawn for her wildlife pond, the fish and ducks? ate the rest...
