I received this via my email today and thought I’d pass on the details in case any of our members live near enough.

I haven’t discussed with OH whether or not we will attend but it does sound like a lovely day out, especially if we have the beautiful sun we’ve had in these parts today :)

This Sunday (27th March) is the first Plant Hunters’ Fair of the season at Ness Botanic Gardens, Neston, Wirral.

The line up of nurseries includes:

Hall Farm Nursery (RHS Chelsea Gold 2010)

At the moment it all looks like a "go" for us as well. I will pm you my phone number and we can plan from there. It is all very exciting :)

It would be fun to meet up if it works out San....or for any other members who can get there for a great day out.

It sounds interesting. I hope you'll go. It would be a nice trip out, and you will need some plants for your garden later on - something out of the ordinary, that you can't get in the run-of-the-mill garden centres - something to make us all envious lol :)

surpose to be a bit colder at weekend but no rain jacquie so thats great, im so looking forward to it, baz isnt to into plants but iv noticed he shows a bit more interest lately when going to see a house and gardens, maybe by the time he retires i will have him planting in the garden lol

I'm looking forward to getting out to this as well, San. As I am just a beginner it will be very interesting to see the array of plants available and yes, Hywel, I'm hopeful I will see something that takes my eye and is within the budget.

Alec, my hubby, isn't into plants either San...he's retired with me so I haven't cracked it yet. He's interested in getting the garden sorted and will chip in comments when I have ideas...Baz will crack on with your enthusiasm for all things green, I'm sure.

See you on Sunday...glad rain isn't forecast :)

We've just come in from the garden after speaking with a gardener who will give us a quote for the heavy garden work and laying turf. Hubby will be watching his pocket to see our money flittering away ...lol

Your new plants sound lovely...I am looking forward to getting the turf and gravel areas down so I can start to buy and plant too :)

See you Sunday...

been in the garden today as its lovely jacquie, iv potted a few pieces/cuttings off my plants for you, geranium pink (native perenial kind),a grass, think zebra grass not sure of name, rudbeckia goldsturm root which is just showing signs of shoots so that will take off for you, bugel which is low growing spreading plant with blue flowers on short stems, and also a campanula alba (bell like flowers)grows about 18inches high, just something to help start your garden planting off x

I do hope you both meet there :o) It's nice to meet fellow members !

Oh Sandra ! I get panic attacks aswell so never go on a motorway. I'd be dead before I got to the next junction lol. I've just driven in Swansea :( A dreary dump with lots of dual carriageways and heavy traffic :( It was horrendous. I was glad to come back up here to the sticks lol.

23 Mar, 2011

lol hywel, i know exactly what you mean, we go for joe in two weeks and baz will drive the motorway but once we get off that i do a little so he can rest, its a long drive, about 4/5 hours, so its a long round trip to let baz do it all, but im glad when i stop haha, busy dual carrage ways and small winding lanes for miles, and some drive toward you like they are in a rally :o(

We had a motorway adventure today! I was driving on the M62, heading for our daughter's in Manchester and after about 15mins. hubby says he doesn't think he put the birthday presents into the car :( Since this was the purpose of our visit to our daughter's (she and her daughter both celebrate their birthday on 24 March). So we carry on to the next exit, go back home, hubby goes into the house to get the presents and off we go again...34 minutes round trip to get back to where we were on the motorway in the first place!

Arrive at daughter's home only to discover hubby must have dropped her birthday card as it's not with us now :(
Despite all of this, we had a nice visit with all the family and went out for dinner with them.

I wasn't having a good day with my walking so hubby drove us home, thankfully....oh, and the petrol tank was blinking all the way home because he hadn't filled the tank! So petrol station, fill up and home to see our precious Lucy :) And she's asleep behind our sofa, under the warm radiator....aww

Sorry that you can't feel comfortable driving on the motorway, San & Beryl...most journeys necessitate travel on the motorways.

San...you are so good to choose some cuttings to bring on Sunday....it will be a big help when we can plant up and I hope that is very soon :) Exciting days to come. x

23 Mar, 2011

We don't have many motorways here, only the M4, and that's quite a few miles away. Anyway it ends just south of here, and then you have to use the dual carriage way - just as bad lol. But there are very few of those aswell. We have 'normal' roads moastly.

24 Mar, 2011

Drat I'm working.

24 Mar, 2011

25 Mar, 2011

Oh goodness, San...I always have a bad back and walk like an old woman (with my stick, and sometimes on hubby's arm as well)....we are going to be a picture the two of us...lol

This should be an outing to remember...and feeling like an old woman, well....actually I am getting on a bit! lol

25 Mar, 2011
