An assortment to show you.

We have had a few garden outings recently using our
‘2 for the price of 1’ card given free in the ‘Gardeners’ World’ magazine.

These first photos were taken at Hartland Abbey. It has been used as the location for numerous films over the years including ‘The Night Manager’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility.’

A few days after that visit we went to a Japanese style Garden near Newquay. There was less colour than I was hoping for but it was very peaceful and relaxing.

The garden did not have a tea room but we found one in the nearby village!
It was very pretty and we sat in a conservatory with a vine over head. In amongst the grapes were little lights held in place by tiny cups and tea pots – all very cute!!

And last of all…….our son and his family are on holiday in France. Here is a picture of our grand daughters outside the boulangerie this morning!!
It would be so nice to be there wouldn’t it?!!

It was a bit of a mixture but I had a lot to show you!!!

I love the pictures of your grandaughters Chris!
I bet you wish you were there too!
The house looks magnificent and the grounds are beautiful, plus the Japanese garden is lovely too!
Great picture of you! xxx

Both gardens look beautiful, I think the Japanese one would have the most appeal to me, they always seem so peaceful, I'm pleased you enjoyed your visits.
Wonder what your grandaughters chose, not an iced bun in sight....
Lovely blog and photo's x

Meadowland I really want to go back to France again soon.

Sbg our son is very good about sending photos to keep us up to date with what they are doing.

Rose the big house was very impressive both inside and out! We will definitely return.

Lincslass the girls will always find something to eat!! I do love the little pastries that the French do - so dainty and delicately done!

xx

I enjoyed your days out ... especially liked the vine with lights and crockery ... what a novel idea!

I have only been to France once ... I must have been about 13 and my Dad was so embarrassed by my older sister wearing a psychedelic print 60's mini- dress ... the elderly French women were unimpressed!

Shirley isn't it strange the things that stay in your mind! I bet your sister looked so good in her mini dress!! Dads were a bit protective of us girls weren't they - mine was very old fashioned and was always right - or so he said!!!

Chris, my sister was somewhat rebellious in her teens and caused our Dad a few sleepless nights! I agree with Dads being protective in those times ... :o)

I enjoyed your blog very much. I hadn’t heard of Hartland Abbey so searched for it and my goodness what a name they gave to the present owner. Sir Hugh George Copplestone Bampfylde Stucley, 6th Baronet.
It looks like a lovely place to visit.
I love Japanese gardens and the one you visited looks nice and tranquil.
Best of all I love the photo of your granddaughters all in their girly pink.

Homebird that name made me smile!! The abbey is still lived in by the family - just Lord Hugh Stucley and his wife at the moment!! When you walk round the abbey, in amongst all the antiques there are modern photographs of what the family are up to today which is quite nice to see.
Prince William had his stag do there apparently!!!
They had a lovely tea room there too!
