GOY

It drives me insane Yorks. sometimes I just give up looking at photos, I have loads to look at but find it excruciating trying to.

Thanks for that Mage, I will see how many others have the same problem then email the boys, I have turned GOY off three times just to try and get back on, driving me nuts,

I find it slow Yorks but not as slow as you. 10 minutes? That is a very long time for a page to load.

yes mine goes slow alot to, not to bad now but sometimes i just sign out as its so frustrating waiting so long.

Getting into my news takes ages, and moving around photos. It's like watching paint dry.

It was very slow about an hour or so ago, went off and hoovered the bathroom while waiting to get to another page. Seems okay now though.

that seems to be the pattern Bamboo, I pop in and out during the day -- if its on a go-slow I don't stop, Terra's new blog for example took so long to load I'd made a drink!

Very frustrating at times, my last blog took over an hour to upload and edit nearly gave up. Yet today it seems great.

Mine was very slow. My son freed up the memory now it is working grand.And I hope it stays that way, as I am expecting some nice photos in a weeks time of a good friends special day.

Mine is a bit slower than usual,Val..but nowhere near as slow as yours and lots of others..

Not as slow as you Yorkshire, but goys been slow for me for weeks, sometimes i have to give up loading members pics/blogs etc, it just takes to long..

like everyone else I get very frustrated with the slowness so I give up and leave !!! Other programmes load fine so it is a goy problem. :o((

Merry Christmas to you too Yorkshire! No, no, no . . . not quite THAT slow, but yes, I've been wandering off doing other things while a page loads. I too have tried logging out and then in again, but it makes no difference. Agree, it's very frustrating. :-(

Trouble is, folks, we can never really be sure unless we find other websites are perfectly ok - I have a new computer, so I know its got loads of unused memory so it can't be that, and I can see the modem and what the state of play is with the broadband, and I do check with other sites to see if they're as slow - sometimes they are, mostly they're not. But I've had the same trouble at times with another gardening website when GoY has been fine. I tell you, if it was a washing machine, we'd never put up with it, would we...

Hi Yorks, havent been on for a couple of days very much, but yes it is painfully slow. Its enough to put you off going on at all.

Bamboo! Shhh! Don't mention washing machines in front of Karensusan . . . She hit hers hard three times the other day and then it died! . . . lol ;-))

I was shut out of GOY today, for four hours, saying it was a 'diagnostic fault' and I wondered if the 'boys' were working on the site, did any one else have a problem logging on?

No - logged on around 12 for an hour or so, then came back on quarter of an hour ago - slow, slow, slow - whenever I mark something as seen, I've got time to turn the roasting potatoes before it clears...

Hi everyone, I am so sorry about the delay, thanks all for getting in touch, I have emailed Peter and Ajay to tell them the problem, seems we are all going through the same thing, sorry I have not been on earlier but our son Daughter-in-law and two year old grandaughter arrived Thursday and have just gone this morning, I will let you know when I hear from the boys,

Yes I have just come on after a couple of days and it does seem slightly better,

its funny how some days its ok.... then when you come on after youve looked at a few things it goes so slow to get to the next thing... drives me nuts too..... i sometimes close the browser and start again which seems to make it better.... its only on this site that its slow.....

Blimey, about an hour or so ago it was so slow I could have hoovered the flat in between times, but its okay again now - and it was just this site.

Yorkshire,mine was working grand,I think you have put the moans on it. It,s gone like the slow boat to China now..... lol

Sorry John, but you can see by how many comments there are on here we are all having the same problem, I have emailed the boys,

I never noticed any particular problems with GoY, although my PC was a bit slow all round, so that might have disguised it - till my PC fell over and everything had to be reinstalled. Seems ok now, she said with her fingers crossed.

But at least I only get this one-way. I have the habit of right-clicking photos, blogs, etc, then clicking "open in new tab". I still have to wait for it to load, but when I've done looking or reading, i just X that tab off and the first page is still there to be right-clicked again on a different photo - *s* sometimes I have four or five tabs, each opened from the one before it, so i can follow links without having to "go back" to check something in a previous page, it's also much easier to refer back to other pages; one can click on the relevant tabs, skipping back and forth.

don't know if that would help at all - at the worst, it'd mean that you only have to wait for the page to load, you don't have to wait while it goes back to previous pages.

It's on a 'go-slow' again - for me anyway - taking an age to view just about anything - it's 20.15 hours Wednesday evening. : o ((((

Mine is like yours Shirley..I was on early evening but got so fed up of waiting ,I came off.It is now 10.30pm..and no better..First time I have had this problem...

Hey Ladies, mine is dreadful, like you I got fed up with it yesterday and turned it off, I emailed Ajay and Peter on the 18th June but still have not had a reply from them,

I have just sent another email to Ajay and Peter, it was painful waiting foir it to go,

I haven't had too many problems, until yesterday evening, what a nightmare, really bad around 7.30 ish, and I finally gave up and logged off around 8 p.m. The other site I was using at the same time was absolutely fine. No problem today though.

that's good to hear at least Bamboo, hope it stays fine for you now.

Gave up last night ... back on now at 3.45pm and seems ok.

I have just come on and its much better, still not heard from the boys, I am away tomorrow until tuesday

*s* GoY is a victim of its own success! so many people want to use it now - and depending on time of day, and how many other people in the world are online at that time ...

Just received an email from Peter, he said they have done some improvements to the site and will do some more to it, they say its the volume of people using GOY that ia causing the problem,

hope it improves....drives you mad at times doesnt it...lol

awwww, sorry to hear that, Yorkshire. Used to do that to me to, which is why some of my posts went in twice: was so slow that I clicked the button again and they both - eventually! - got posted.

Is it just GoY that does this to you? Mind you, i think we spend more time here than in any other single website, so a slowing-down might not be so noticeable there as it is here. Perhaps a word with your isp might do something?

What I've posted today has gone straight on, no waiting.
But then, I've just had my PC cleaned up and the OS reinstalled and that might be making a difference. Or it might be that there's not that much internet traffic at this time of day.

just out of interest, does anyone know how many members GoY has? if kerzillions are trying to use the site at the same time, that couldn't but slow it down!

Its only on GOy Fran, internet is brilliant, I turned it off earlier, was trying to put some photos on but it just would not have it, Ajay and Peter said they were going to do something about it,!!

had sun for last couple of days. I can't believe that, after all the rain we'd had over the last week or so, my lavenders were still in dry soil! (shows how much in need they were of repotting).

but it's doors-wide-open, windows-wide-open warm now, though don't know how long that'll last - couple of months would suit me ...
