MY 65TH BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

As most of you would have known I was 65 on Monday 27th June and we went down south to celebrate with our children, we had a wonderful time, on Friday evening our daughter held a Fathers day Celebration which was all Italian food and Bread she had cooked, plenty of beer and wine, it was a fantastic evening, on Saturday morning Johanna and me went to my Grandsons grave to plant up his garden and lay flowers, a very sad morning for us both but we knew he was there to celebrate with his Grandma, Saturday afternoon our daughter and son-in-law drove us to a beautiful village called Bibury, what a wonderful afternoon we had, a real chocolate box village, Saturday evening Johanna made a curry evening, fantastic, Sunday morning Clive our son picked us up in his car and took us to his house for breakfast, set us up for the day, my three grandchildren were there and we all went back to my daughters for the afternoon. we had a fantastic bar-B-Q cooked by our son-in-law, I was then handed a tea shirt and an arrow to wear on my head, how we laughed, photos taken then it was time for my birthday present, Johanna and Clive had bought me a gold pendant full of Saphires and Diamonds, did I cry, “YES” then came the cake, £20 from my son-in-laws Nan to buy something nice for the garden, activities drinking talking laughing until 11-30, on Monday I was taken to a pub for a drink and a nice walk, spent the afternoon in the garden, the family came again in the eveing for a birthday dinner, Johanna had made Carrot and Corriander soup, followed by Beef Wellington and roast veg, followed by ice cream and more birthday cake, but before we had dinner Johanna handed me a large parcel, when I opened it she had made me a Memory book, did I cry “YES” the first photo on the front cover was me aged just 4, my elder sister had helped with all the photos and to see the photos of my parents, grandparents, my sisters and brother over the years was over whelming, what memories, 65 years of them, apparently Johanna had worked on the book for 4 months, it was a work of art, I can only put some photos on here of my birthday as due to our daughters job security is tight, but I am going to show you the village we went to,and also a couple of photos that I hope will make you all smile, I will start with Johanna’s Foccasia bread, then show you the village, and finished with my birthday, I do hope you enjoy this blog, thank you for looking, The birthday card at the bottom of the blog is from my Dr, telling me I can now have free flu jabs which I have been having for the past ten year and a free Pneumococcal Vaccination, I could not stop laughing, the orchids have just this minute arrived from my sister who lives in Australia. the tea shirt is from my daughter, she always puts me on the naughty step.

Yorkie my dear, what a wonderful record of a fantastic birthday party! I could almost have cried for you. A wonderful daughter to think of such a dream of a gift in your birthday book, memories to treasure for ever. I am sooo glad you had a great time, not that I doubted it for a minute.
I wasnt sure which day it was, so I toasted you on Saturday night! (Sorry, drank your tot too lol).
Glad you got there and back safely and perhaps next time you are down this way, we can have a belated celebration.

Loved the pictures of Bibury, have sat on the river wall many times to watch the ducks! Loved the focaccia bread (my favourite!) and the cake, Pamg is right, its definitely "Iwantoneofthose".

Thanks Yorkshire.

I think it was lechlade where we went for a meal, very interesing, everyone eats together and the staff parade the main courses and the sweets through the restaurant so you see them before you order, makes quite a spectacle, a great sense of occasion too!

1 Jul, 2011

Sticki, Lechlade was where they took me for a drink on my birthday, a lovely pub right on the thames there, then we took a walk around the village,
