Your garden design talents are wonderful.
Looking forward to further photos when you have the time.
Did you have any problems changing the trellis colour ?
Did you use stain ?

Awww thanks TT, What a lovely thing to say.. I used a cheap wood stain, B&Qs own make i think, 2 very thick runny coats haha..

Trellis looks really nice.
Thick runny is good. Lol. :o)

Can't wait to see what you plant - lots of interest already.

What a difference! Sometimes we just have to 'bite the bullet' and admit that a plant has seen better days... then it's the exciting bit of deciding what to put in its place! :-)

A garden bed looks so different as soon as you remove a big, overgrown plant. It is looking good, Daisy.

You have some great plants there, it will look super I can understand how excited you are, I remember it well, and still do now!! we have changed our fence colour from lavander (what was I on when I chose that?) to a very heritage colour green, I must be getting old lol

That's a very neat organised looking garden with some great plants. I wish some of myu customers would let me do the same to their Lavenders. I've got quite a few gardens where I work with huge old woody Lavenders( much older and in worse condition than yours) that hang over lawns killing the grass and smothering other plants but they won't let me take them out. I agree with Spritzhenry, sometimes you just have to do it. It's the same with very old roses, but don't start me on that!!!
Interesting blog.

Paul I do agree with you.....I do the odd spot of gardening and the plants people hang on to, it would only take a mo to strike a cutting especially lavenders, and roses as well...Crikes I hope I dont turn into one of those....my kids have permission to put me down if I do!!!

I know what you mean Paul/Dotty, to tell the truth i didn't want to take it out, the flowers smell gorgeous in summer and the bee's loved it, but im happy i took it out, it was really woody underneath, someone said Lavenders are past there best after 7 years and i think it was about that... Oooh Paul you could try the 7yr thing on your customers haha...

You mean the 7 year itch????
21 Mar, 2009
Yes , Youngdd. I could make it part of my terms and conditions!!! But, afterall, it's their garden and plants, I suppose. Funnily enough, one of the biggest culprits asked me only today to remove her Lavender. Incredible! I did it quick, before she changed her mind!

Did it come out easily Paul?
24 Mar, 2009
Sorry Ydd, I didn't notice this comment till today(not been on line much-- busy at last) Yes, it came out very easily. The roots weren't very deep and were weak.
