Phew, What a Fantastic Gardening Weekend..

Saturday..
Sun shining like a summers day, I went out with all intentions of planting bulbs in the back garden but the borders are still too nice to pull apart so i cleaned the greenhouse cut the ivy got rid of all the rubbish i meant to sort out weeks ago, edged raked and cut the lawn, clipped the box balls, deadheaded and watered the plants, Phew, 4hours later all done and happily tired..
Two of my Cannas flowered, i still have tumbling toms and strawberries, and my Daliah’s are still beautifull..
Sunday.. Not as warm so we went shopping and i got a few bargains :)) Boxes of mixed bulbs at Liddl half price £1 29.. went to B&Q and bought a few plants there, 6 cyclemen, 5 hollyfern 5 for £5 .. 5 carex honeygold, and a variegated Adams Needle, ( Yucka Gloriosa ) £10 .. And 20 Grape Hyacinth for £2 98, But we went to Netto after B&Q and they were only 79p for 15 :(
The front garden is all planted up now, just the back garden to sort out..

Lovely Dahlia! Do you know its name, Ydd??
You did a lot, didn't you! I bet you were pleased with the results, though. :-))

Lovely photo`s Ydd and I know that feeling its just great, well done.........

Thanks Guys, Thats my back door Sandra :) I think the secret of them not falling over is the shape of the pots, if you use pots that top heavy, ie, wider at the top they topple easily, also there quite sheltered against the house..
The Daliah is Spectable Spritz, i have 2 and they have flowered for weeks continuously and huge flowers too..There a beautifull Orange but my camera doesen't pick up the true colour..

What a lovely garden you have lovely flowers with colour still in it, nice selection of bulbs you have, awaiting spring to be able to view them.
28 Sep, 2009
Thanks Morgana, I Can hardly wait for spring :)
Sandra, do you not fancy planting it in one of your borders? mine is in the gravely part of my garden, i just wrap the top part with fleece in winter and it doesent topple over lol..
28 Sep, 2009
i guess i could put it in border as they dont grow any taller with being grafted, have to get my thinking head on lol, dont they loose their leaves in winter Dee, do you wrap to protect from frost
28 Sep, 2009
Yeah they loose there leaves Sandra, if its not too big just use a pillowcase to protect it..
28 Sep, 2009
its quite wide Dee so will get some fleece for it,, thanx i wouldnt have known to cover if you hadnt said :o)

Have to say Im with Drc on that door .. lovely colour that sets off pots and bay trees beautifully.
Weather been great for us ..not before time and flowers and birds getting so confused poor goldfinches producing so many young too hope we dont get sudden cold snap.
Bulbs look lovely managed to find white grape hyacinths with fragrance too ..cant wait.

what a shame Dee, do you trim the branches a bit to to keep shape, i will cover it
28 Sep, 2009
Yeah sandra i do but in spring, just a trim as its kept its shape, just one thing about the fleece, ( ill remind you in spring) it has to be took off as the new buds and growth appear or you will get a horribly tangled mess, like my sis's lol...
Hi BB thanks a lot, as i remember last year was the same. Weatherwise, then BANG Autumn hit hard and winter came quick, if u know what i mean.. Poor birds, i saw 2 Crows with a youngin this morning, they were fighting off another crow, and i thought am i seeing right, I didn't know there was young birds this time of year!

What's that in your greenhouse, Ydd? Is it a Hydrangea?? I'm puzzled....
29 Sep, 2009

Its a brugmansia Spritz, One of 3 from last year, I went to empyt the pots in june, 2 were were totally dead but this one had little shoots under the compost so i thought i would see what would happen, no chance of flowers now, Maybe its time to give up on it..

Very tropical effect. Your lawn is so tidy looks like carpet! I brought my brugmansia inside last night when temps dipped into the 30s: love them & hope to nurse it through. Well worth it, you'll see!
