An Historical Coincidence

I just had to share this coincidence with you.
One of my other interests is family history and I have traced some lines back over 500 years. My four grandparents came from London, Norfolk, Suffolk and Devon so I’m quite well mixed up :-)
Last winter I started on another project involving a lot of work looking at censuses which I have picked up again this autumn. I have a great great grandmother, born in a small village in Suffolk called Eliza Smith who worked in service at some very good addresses in London (despite finding time to have two illegitimate children). Today, my project took me to Badminton House, Gloucestershire in the 1901 census. In the list of servants, one Ellen Smith from the same Suffolk village is the housekeeper and turns out to be Eliza’s sister.
While my forebears were not wealthy, they moved in exceedingly good circles.

I did mine on both sides a few years back and got as far as 1663, made easy mainly because we never went anywhere! And now here I am, a half hour's drive from where I was born, carrying on the family tradition. We are either a very contented or a very boring family.
It was still fascinating to do, however and I can tell you are enjoying it. Great coincidence there. All sorts of surprises to come yet, maybe.

Ojibway..... same with me I was born here, went to school here and my nannie lived round the corner, I have never moved away so it is easier to look things up in local churches and cemetries etc. Think we are all contented !

my dad came from london, my mum from norfolk, they moved 7 or 8 times, but strangely enough my oldest son is now in london and my youngest in suffolk!!!
