~ Today was the first day of the RHS show and notwithstanding the fact that it was raining we were in good spirits when we arrived in the car park across the river from Bute Park where the tulips planted in blocks of 50 dazzled.

My husband said ‘I have forgotten the tickets’
~ I thought he was joking…he wasn’t! A round trip of 2 hours plus and 100 miles didn’t sound very appealing. ‘I will buy another lot’ he said.

As we got to the ticket booths clutching my brand new RHS card valid from the 1st of the month, and put in my purse that morning, I told the girl we were from Swansea, had forgotten our tickets which I had bought on line using my card to get a discount and could she check it online? After giving her various details and some key punching we had a pair of brand new tickets printed off and were on our way into the show.

Hurray for the RHS!!!

~ the weather was getting better when we met a lady on wheels who seemed to have eaten something which was making her stomach rumble.

and so we were off to the plants!

The wheelbarrow competition for local schools produced some fantastic displays and although all 50 were worth showing I will show you some of the best.

~ some of the barrows were done by nursery classes and the schools are catching them young with environmental issues

~ these children are more clued up than anyone!

more to follow….
this one for TT!

and this one had enjoyed the locally made wines and spirits!

There was a crowd around a local owl sanctuary display and no wonder
~ the birds are magnificent!

The cacti as usual were stunning!

There were no large plants which yelled take me home! but there are a few things which I will take photos of tomorrow!

This was a present for my daughter but is so cute I could have kept him!

Come on, Arlene - you've left out the most important bit - what did you bring home with you for your garden?

Seriously, I'm glad you had a good day. Garden shows are just such a tonic, aren't they!

Oh what great photographs. A lot of work went into the wheelbarrow displays, whoever had to pick the winner had a difficult task.
Sounds like a good day out Arlene.

Great bonsai and love the Heuchera. The wheelbarrows are a wonderful idea - should be part of the national curriculum!
