Hi there
~ whilst we were down for Spritzhenry’s open day we took the opportunity to visit Carol Klein’s garden near Warkleigh~not easy to find but we eventually got there
If anyone is going we will tell you how to do it in a pm!.Lovely narrow lanes with high hedges and foxgloves everywhere!
Background info from the BBC
Carol Klein
Born in Manchester in 1945, Carol originally trained as an art teacher and taught in schools in the London area before moving to Devon. There she taught at North Devon College before setting up her own plant nursery, Glebe Cottage Plants.
Carol Klein, winner of six gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show for her naturalistic plant displays, is a much-loved writer, lecturer, and passionate plantswoman.
Carol has presented several gardening shows since her television debut on Gardeners’ World in 1989, when Geoff Hamilton came to visit her at her Devonshire cottage, including: Garden Party, Wild About The Garden and Real Gardens.
Carol’s own garden is a south-facing slope on heavy clay. She’s been gardening there for about 25 years and is passionate about gardening with nature, not against it.
Carol also writes regularly for green-fingered publications and supplements.
“There’s never been a grand design,” she says. “It’s just evolved over time. I’m always making changes. One of the most recent has been to replace a conifer hedge with a native one. Hopefully, this will encourage more wildlife into the garden.” says Carol.
Really enjoyed my visit and came away with some nice plants!

lots of bees BB! ~and really nice secluded area,we did of course get lost ~ found this house with a long drive which I thought might be it so walked down, not a soul around but round a corner was this lovely Victorian lampost straight out of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
We eventually found a local who put us right~Carol used to teach his brother.

~I understand you are much in demand BB!Autographs everywhere you go...
You are not allowed to take photos of the house which has scaffolding up at the moment and the metal frame for a glass leanto on the side, obviously work in progress. Her back garden and private areas are also off limits.
The whole garden is smaller than you might expect but probably still a lot to maintain.~packed with plants!
