~ Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day for the start of the 6th annual Cardiff show and for those who couldn’t attend here is a tour!
after crossing the river beside this lovely Willow we were there….
for those who would like to take a Welsh dragon home this one is for sale…
beautiful bonsai!
elegant Echium for sale but although I want one after losing mine over the winter it was tiny in comparison to another one on the stands
which wasn’t for sale!
whole rafts of colourful tulips….
and yes this is me with the fixed frozen smile and why couldn’t he tell me my hair was everywhere….
but check out those Protea from the Welsh National Botanical Garden!!!
~ Cacti for Hywel~ the last photo shows a bowl which is 60year old and still looking good!
and then outside to a lovely show garden and the proud designer is happily posing with her certificate….
and some photos from the local Birds of Prey rescue centre…..
and another bird which was creating mayhem wherever it went!!!
and after lunch we saw some well carved wooden figures…
and back to some plants
and more plants…
and here’s one I bought for myself!
it’s called Trochodendron Aralioides and will have green wheel shaped flowers later on can’t wait!
and finally we made our way out into the grounds of Cardiff Castle before going home…roll on Malvern!

Looks like you had a great day Arlene with so much to take in. So much colour and the carvings look great as well. Mind you, I thought I had a good, first-year display of Daffs in my border but they were nowhere near as impressive as the one in the second picture!!
Very nice pics too:0)

Particularly taken with the Tiarella 'Mystic Mist' and the Sanguisorba Canadensis - two more for the list!!!!!! You've shown us a wonderful cross-section of the show and what a beautiful day you had for it. I think you looked very smart - what's a few stray hairs? :-)))))

Everything Wagger if you have none like me!! LOL!
Can't say I've tried the relishes you mention Arlene although they sound pretty tasty. Keep us informed as to whether they taste as good as they sound!

Thanks Arlene! What great photos, especially love the variegated fritillaria - that's amazing. And what about that garden all planted in piping of some kind, that is great too! The bonsai - always a highlight for me although I don't grow any - don't have the patience! Looks like a wonderful day as well. I haven't been to Cardiff since I was a teenager. I used to go there as part of a choir to sing in Llandaff cathedral. I loved it, lovely city and lovely warm climate! Thanks for sharing!
