PART TWO CONNIE'S AMAZING GARDEN....

I met Connie for the first time last year when she came to our open garden, in fact she visited us twice, OH and I were very impressed with her gardening knowledge……so when she invited us over to see her garden of course we went………we had no idea what to expect as the front was very traditional and formal…..but once through that gate!!

The above pictures show a very Moroccan style, the Calla lilies were just out of this world, Connie apologized saying that there were not as many flowers as normal!!

Tea was served in a delightful summerhouse, and what about that bicycle?
I just loved this sunken seating area, and I think my OH did too!!

Some random shots of the planting, Connnie is taking out the perennials because she is having a truly tropical theme, there is a magnificent tree fern, and a very large trachy already in place……

Connie is making some radical changes this year, which sound very exciting, so you my dear friends have now had the joy of visiting a unique garden…….because Connie does not, and will not open her garden to the public, no matter how hard I try to persuade her lol (so it is a secret garden, so keep it under your hats!!)
I will just finish off with some more shots of this wonderful garden.

I do hope this blog brightened your day, it cheered me up, it was such a lovely hot day when we saw this garden, BUT….it is back to the drawing board regarding my Japanese corner lol

Wow Dotty I can't believe she doesn't open it! I enjoyed part one of this blog too. The Calla Lillies are beautiful, I never have much success with them.

Sticki your welcome, Annella....Connie was very disappointed with her Calla's last year, two of her pots just refused to bloom, and normally the purple one has about 80 blooms!!

what a privilege to go there! there are some brilliant gardeners and designers out there and if it wasnt for people putting their pictures on we would miss a lot of treats!

wow, the work that must go into this - getting it done is easy compared with keeping it done ... full marks to her, and many thanks to you for letting us see it - even if not in person *s*

Fantastic. Such a blaze of colour. Your friend must spend hours keeping it like that. I would love to know how she keeps her gravel/slate so clean and clear of debris/leaves etc. A real inspiration.

Amazing and have to agree with Gee...... how does she do it ?

Fantastic garden Dotty, what a beautiful place. Is this close to where you live I wonder. Like the picture of OH too. Oh to have a garden large enough.....

Wow, it is immaculate!! Does she know that she could open just for groups by appointment...you know, local enthusiasts....would be safer than having a mad day like the wonderful yellow book folk do! That garden deserves to be seen doesn't it! :))))) Thank you so much for taking the pics and sharing them!

understandable that she'd be wary of letting strangers in, even if one at a time ...

You are very honoured to have been invited to see Connie`s garden, we can see how much thought and hard work has been used to create all her rooms.

Thanks for all your very generous comments, I will tell Connie, she will be so taken aback, she loves her garden and spends a great deal of time in it, as no doubt you can tell, it is a labour of love, we both spend hours discussing plants, I am so pleased I met her, we will be off to see some new gardens in Hampshire, really looking forward to the warmer days, soooooo cold here!! so I hope to bring you more exciting gardens later on this year.

Thanks for sharing this lovely garden Dd, it was a real pleasure to look at. I bet you were in your glory, walking around it. I wouldn't have wanted to come out.... Well done again Connie, your garden is a real pleasure to look at.

What an amazing designer Connie is DD, I love the paved area with the blue glass and purple and red flower combination, a favourite combination of mine. The whole garden is just breathtaking and im really looking forward to seeing her tropical garden, i can maybe copy a few ideas from it hahaha...

Daisyd you will love her tropical area she has already purchased elephant's ears and several other exotic plants that she is growing on in her conservatory.
She and her OH have taken out the massive Gunnera to make way for more bog side planting, I know whatever she puts there it can only look better, looking forward to seeing the changes myself.
Lin you are welcome, we went for a couple of hours and stayed all afternoon...lol

I can believe that Dd, it is breathtaking, I just wish I was as clever as Connie, some people just have the gift and it comes to them naturally doesn't it?.......but I regret not being in that same queue!!!! (Lol.)

Cant tell you how much pleasure seeing your pics of Connie`s garden have given me they are such an inspiration. Please pass on our thanks for letting us take a peek.

What an amazing garden Connie has, absolutely breathtaking. You wouldn't believe that was someones back garden, looks more like a professional show garden. If Connie ever gets bored, she's welcome to work her magic on my garden :) Thank you so much for sharing Dd.

Those first pictures made me feel as though it was blazing summer outside instead of snow. Monty Don talks of his 'jewel' garden, that's is exactly how I would describe this part of Connie's garden. Thanks for putting these pics on Dd:-)

Part 2 is my favorite ,I wonder if she ever has time to sleep! and a considerable cost factor to judging by the layout. not surprised she does not want people tramping all over it.

16 Feb, 2012

Shirley not long now......BJs Connie designs in her sleep....she is lucky to be married to a builder who does all brick walls, fences, and the Chinese structures.

16 Feb, 2012

that is a beautiful garden. I'd love mine like that! thanks for sharing.

18 Feb, 2012
