Iciar!!!!!! Is this spam?:-\

Iciar with the baby pic appears occasionally Dd, she haunts me sometimes and when she does appear you can guarantee that some of my comments disappear into the wide blue yonder never to be seen again, I have reported it in the past but the guys themselves told me they they didn't know why it happens...

Iciar appear every now and then. I'm sure Steragram was having trouble before.

Thanks for the info Lincs and Scottish....I did wonder if it may be because I am using a tablet, instead of my usual computer which has a more security?:-!

I seem to remember that Meanie had trouble with Iciar too, Dd2, a year or so ago, but, it didn't last long...could be just a glitch?

Yes I have appeared as Iciar lots of times, the last one quite recently. The comments haven't disappeared though - Lincslass was unlucky there. Nothing to do with using a tablet.

Dotty - curiosity got the better of me so I searched for Iciar - only to find he/she joined in January 2007 with no comments/photos since November of the same year! Most odd .........

The thing that worried me was the thought that my comments could end up on the wrong blog but I have never had any comments suggesting that it has happened thank goodness, the funny thing is that although Iciar hasn't appeared as me this time, I noticed yesterday that my comments had once again gone walkabout on some of the blogs, I think Iciar must have them, lol.....

It's no good reporting it. They'll just ignore you.

Iciar can't be a troll, though, can s/he? It's really random, and doesn't actually achieve anything, except, maybe mischief...

I really think (hope) it's just a glitch in the programme...

...a bit like how, suddenly, our photos started coming up sideways, because we'd taken them with the camera on end. That never used to happen.

Have you noticed how the ads on the right of your screen always match up to something you've been talking about? I only noticed it today...lots about Pemba...and, whoever has heard of Pemba, before now? I bet you don't get the same ones.

The adverts are quite annoying! There must be a way to opt out of seeing free ads...mandatory or not! I don't like them and will be avoiding many more sites if this complusory infliction of 'semi-naked' women ads for underwear and slimming ads don't go away!

One of my comments was accompanied by the Iciar avatar too. I reported it to the powers that be but it appears that they don't know why it happens. I became myself very soon after with no ill effects :)

You can get rid of the ads easily Gorgeous -there's a program called Adblock Plus that you can download free, and it works brilliantly. It was the flashing ads that finally tipped me over the edge but i never see any now.

There is someone there but I think he only works parttime, I don't think the lads who started Goy get involved these days....
But at least we are still here, thats the important thing.

I like to hear how people are doing over the winter. Where would we Brits be if we couldn't discuss the weather. Do other GoY friends in other countries talk as much as we do about their weather? It is also nice to see plants appear in spring.I am in Scotland so I have to wait a bit longer than most........it gives me hope. :0)

Having used Adblock plus myself for a couple of years now I never see any advertising on here any more. I understand they bring in money to keep the site free but they became so intrusive & the pages took so long to load that when I discovered this programme I've never looked back!

There's a similar programme for IE - though as I very rarely use it after discovering FF some years ago - I can't remember what it is called now. But it does the same job as AB+! :-))

Never tried an add blocking programme on any other browser, they probably wouldn't work on Google Chrome anyway!

IE = Internet Explorer

FF = Firefox

These are names of two different browsers. IE is Microsoft's browser, the one that comes preinstalled on every Windows computer & which you probably use if you don't recognise FF!

AB+ = Adblock plus, the ad blocking software that can be installed in Firefox. This won't work in IE.

To get rid of Ads in IE you will need to download & install "Simple Adblock".

I am using Google Chrome with AdBlock and it works a treat......just need something for my tablet now? far too many adverts.

Thats good Dd, they got back to me quickly when I contacted them about it, unfortunately they couldn't figure it out then but perhaps they'll be able to this time around, its a very strange situation as only happens occasionally.....

Balcony adBlock wont work on my tablet with Chrome ( it is a Google Nexus 10) trying to find a way around it, trying a different browser called Boat at the moment!!

I've never heard of that browser before! How are you getting on with it?

I'm not really surprised that Adblock won't stop the ads on Chrome!

Rereading you post above I'm now confused! You say Adblock stops ads on Chrome on your PC but not on your laptop! If it works on one it should work on the other, I would have thought so anyway.

Have you tried FireFox on your laptop? You should be able to install any browser you like on any computer since the EU forced MS to abandon their policy of installing & enabling IE on all new computers for sale within the EU.

Balcony I am not using a laptop, it is a tablet made by Samsung..a Google Nexus 10. which is an Android device, just like my smart phone, my computer is an Apple IMac and adblock works perfectly well on that, but my tablet will not accept it with Chrome.....but by using Boat as my browser has solved the problem....no ads??

Iciar appeared also in comments of Goyers to my photos in the past. My theory is, that because identity of Iciar is uknown and he sometimes steals and sometimes mixes up text of somebody else and because England is traditional birthplace of all ghosts and mysteries, we should accept Iciar as the ghost of this webpage. Let s welcome him/her. Lol

It still happens to me, but I reckon that I've spotted the pattern. It seems to happen when I've had a page opened a long time (ie; I got distracted elsewhere) before I post a comment. It only happens if I forget to refresh that page before commenting.
