Isn't it strange, you love it when you are young, and you don't feel the cold, and the older you get the more you dislike it, boring practicalities come into it I suppose, like not falling and having to pay the bills. I have pictures like yours and frighten myself with them every so often.

OMG Dotty! Love the look of it, but always hope it won't last too long . . .
Luckily my 30-year old après-ski boots still come in handy :))
14 Nov, 2013
Oh dear I know it really looks nice but I 'm also hoping it doesn't arrive, its our oldest daughters birthday on the 26th and the past two years its snowed the week before, funny thing is she came in from work today and said the snows coming Mum gotta get my boots out!!!!!!!!!
14 Nov, 2013
I haven't liked this blog dd2 for obvious reasons... I really don't like snow, especially before this side of Christmas...! I've got Christmas Wreaths to make up in the garage/workshop for a Christmas Fayre next weekend... Then the following weekend I've got a Christmasy Wedding with the delivery being on Sunday 1 December...!!! Definately DON'T want SNOW!!! :o(((
14 Nov, 2013
Just sit indoors in the warm with a cuppa and hold onto your chairs, this could be a bumpy winter!! Lol
14 Nov, 2013
OH said they had forecast snow, I think they are pulling our legs. I hope they are, I do not want snow before Christmas. I can remember the snow we have had for the last few winters and definitely do not want it back just yet. :O(
14 Nov, 2013
I haven't liked it either.......
And I must admit to dreading a freezing cold winter. :0(
15 Nov, 2013
I love to see snow and quite enjoy walking in the woods with Millie in the snow but just don't want it yet! I haven't even put my heating on yet as I am afraid of the bills and, to be honest, I haven't really needed it (I have a calor gas heater I use if I get chilly in the evenings). I hope the forecasts are wrong :)
15 Nov, 2013
It makes it such a long winter when it starts in november doesn't it
15 Nov, 2013
pamg Ican remember it started in October three years ago, Gee I love to look out on it, but not having to cover all our tender plants up, which can be a right pain!
olive the long range forecast is awful, I do hope they get it wrong this time...
Gm sound advice, but they are forecasting three months of severe weather...
Petal I dont envy you sitting outside in the snow, fingers crossed for you..
lincs perhaps third time lucky.... (I would get the boots ready, just in case)
Sheila very wise of you to keep those boots!!
lizzie how true, lovely to look at, and fine if we do not have to go out in it..
Jane you are still at that tender age, to stll enjoy it lol
Thanks Stera, used the photos for a Christmas card one year.
Good thinking Gralew, it would be wonderful if they have got it wrong, this time.
Thank you all for your comments, we shall all have to wait and see, not much we can do about the weather is there?:-[
15 Nov, 2013
I'm going to buy some vests........LOL. I feel the cold and wrap myself up like a teddy bear when the snows about. I like to see it but its when it turns to ice its dangerous.
20 Nov, 2013
Much colder today Dotty ... no ground frost as yet ... car roof was white though and there were some hailstones clattering down at midday ... :o(
20 Nov, 2013
It's certainly been a cold wind here today and we've had slushy rain too.
20 Nov, 2013
Much colder here, had a couple of ground frosts...seen off the dahlias, and scorched the gunnera leaves??
23 Nov, 2013
I can wrap up against the cold, but I hope the white stuff keeps away for a while yet............I have put the dahlias in the greenhouse to dry off for the winter. I split them up and repot them in march grow them on for a while inside the greenhouse and then put them out in may.
24 Nov, 2013
Lineal we put ours in the sheds, because we do not have a greenhouse unfortunately. …we will leave the tree dahlia out but we will mulch it, and hope for the best.??
24 Nov, 2013
That's all you can do Dottie, the mulch will protect the crown of it, and can I suggest that if you have any straw perhaps placing some of that there too as an added barrier to the frost. Just a thought.
25 Nov, 2013
A good idea Lindak will see if we can get some straw.
28 Nov, 2013
On speaking to Gerry about the straw he says it might be a good idea to place the straw down first and then put the compost on the top. It will give insulation and the straw won't blow about all over the garden doing it that way. Pet shop probably the best idea for a small bag of straw.
30 Nov, 2013
Sound advice Lindak many thanks....
30 Nov, 2013
Everything is so damp in the garden, that I'm leaving it all for now. I need to get the fence painted (in light brown) and have asked my neighbour if I can go into their garden during the week to have a go and they said it's o.k. A bit more sunshine would be nice. Just cleaned some of the muck out of our little barrel pond. Cut the lily right back to the pot and cut some of the pondweed off that had died too. With the extra space our three goldfish have been zooming round.......
2 Dec, 2013
Here we go again if the forecast for the end of the week is to be believed. :0(
2 Dec, 2013
I know. I hope we manage to get back here before it gets too bad!
2 Dec, 2013
LindakI was surprised to hear that you have a barrel pond! with goldfish? as you may, or possibly not know we also have a barrel pond.....was not aware you could keep goldfish in them!! have you any photos? would love to see them please...
Pam the forecast does look rather bleak up north...
Karen you take care now...
3 Dec, 2013
I'm home...safe! thank you! X
4 Dec, 2013
I am pleased to hear that Karen, the temperature has dropped here tonight, we have quite a frost.
4 Dec, 2013
I didn't know you had a barrel pond either - weren't you talking some time ago about having someone clean your pond, or am I confused (no change there...)
5 Dec, 2013
No not me!! Stera.
11 Dec, 2013
Not you indeed - I meant Lindak! Maybe I was thinking about someone else - may have mentioned before its time to book my place in the rest home...
