Thankyou Dd, will have a look, I like Adam Frosts as well....

2 Dec, 2017

Well, I didnโ€™t know that Adam had a website. I could have been stalking him! Lol!

He is local to me Karen and lives in a local village, so obviously do take an interest, has opened his own gardening school which according to the bookings seems to be doing very well, would love to go on one of the courses even if just to be able to have a peek in his garden, lol....Cheeky I know....

I don't blame you LL. I had a look at the Adam website last night and I was plotting myself about those courses. They are pretty well booked up as you say. His garden is my idea of heaven. But all his designs make me drool. I think he has beautiful ideas and I love all the plants he uses too. I also think he is just a top bloke and so down to earth. He is definitely my new favourite. I've gone off AT a bit now...he seems to only want to suck up to Royalty and hasn't offered us gardeners much for a long time. But between Chris Beardshaw and Adam Frost, we still have lots to inspire us! :)

DD, Thanks for posting, I'm a Monty fan.

Links, I am an Adam Frost fan too & pleased to learn he has a site too.

Karen, not keen on AT either, all those makeovers with huge trees & vast sums, maybe he's sucking up hoping for a 'Sir'.

Hmmm...probably GF!

Thanks Dotty.
Lin, lucky you living close, I like Adam too, Alan just seems to be doing anything but gardening these days, chasing the money I guess.
So Adam is in Stamford, how lovely, I've stayed at the George Hotel :-) beautiful location

Dawn what a small world!! my brother had his wedding reception at The George, as you say a beautiful location! we know that area well, used to live near Melton Monday....

3 Dec, 2017

Lol! Melton Monday! Predictive text is the bane of our lives!

4 Dec, 2017

I was brought up in Lincs. Lived there from age 4 to 19. But I have never been to Stamford, Boston or Spalding! To be fair...it is a very large county and all my relatives lived in Yorkshire.

4 Dec, 2017

Thanks DD for that.

4 Dec, 2017

Think I prefer Melt-on Monday.

Melton Mowbray = Pork Pie. We're about a 40min drive away. Dotty, do you remember the livestock market, I remember going with my Dad. Small world, The George is a great hotel

4 Dec, 2017

I do indeed Dawn......especially the one in Melton Mowbray Lol!! the best pork pies in the country at Dickinson and Morris! still going strong.....
Karen we knew all those places, rather liked Lincolnshire...although quite flat........
Your welcome Diane....

Adam lives in Barnack, its a gorgeous stone village approx 5m away from Stamford

I will always be an AT fan but you are right he does seem to be more presenter than gardener now, Adam is what I call a proper gardener, saying that he possibly only gets down and dirty when the cameras are about, lol....Now I have to disagree as regards the pork pies ladies, sausages also, the best are Nelson's made in Stamford, I spent my whole working life in that pie factory, 37 years all told, I do however admit that the Melton Mowbray one are definitely second in line...
Dd its not all flat in Lincs, we have the Wolds and Lincoln has some very famous steep hills, lol...I have the best of both worlds as we are on the border with Rutland, another beautiful county....

5 Dec, 2017

Barnack sounds idyllic Lincs :). Rutland is beautiful too, you're in a lovely area. Isn't Lincoln Cathedral on a hill? Lincoln FC did well last year too didn't they.
So how do we buy a Nelson Pork pie? 37 years, wow that's a long time!

Nelsons started in 1924, this is an interesting read:

They have an online shop:

Dawn, yes Lincoln Cathedral is on a hill, it towers over the city and can be spotted from miles away, I was going to tell you about the Nelson's online shop but Green Finger beat me too it, lol...
Green Finger that story is a good read, the chappie in the photo is my old boss, he took over from his Uncle Frank, sadly I heard a few weeks back that he is selling up, hoping its bought as a going concern and continues as it is, many of the staff have worked there like I did from when they left school, not only that Nelson's is part of Stamford, nearly as famous as the The George .....

6 Dec, 2017

Thanks Lincs, GreenF. My mouths been watering looking at the website. Thank you. I might treat myself to some sausages and pork pie :-)

7 Dec, 2017

The mini pork pies in a box are lovely for those of us who are watching the weight problem. They have them in Sainsburys and Marks and Spencer Food Hall.

7 Dec, 2017

AT has recently been on chanel 25 in ancient Ground Force repeats. Very interesting. They worked really hard. Got soaked to the skin and there was a lot of banter. Charlie has changed a bit from the slim, strong beauty she was in these programmes. AT got elbowed out of Chelsea, so perhaps he has to diversify? I am a Monti fan too. How he tends that garden all on his own I really do not know!

7 Dec, 2017

I don't know either, Dorjac, especially after his stroke & enforced garden leave, then the op for peritonitis too, I do know that he's a workaholic & used to have his alarm set for 3.45am each day. Nowadays, at the BBC's insistence, he has 2 gardeners that help him.

8 Dec, 2017

I was thinking surely Monty doesn't do all the work himself, what with his travelling overseas visiting gardens etc., it's interesting though to hear he gets stuck in, working hard, I don't know what it is, I can't really gel with Monty, I was told by someone in the know that it helps if you belong to a certain body to get on well in the BBC but we won't go into that.

14 Dec, 2017

Dawn, I somehow doubt that as he's quite the hippy drop-out at heart & it certainly didn't help when his business went bust & he was broke & working on a building site, but then I'm not in the know...
This interview from March '09 is an interesting read about the man.
