Enjoying the sunshine

Sunday 12 October
I have been having a lovely time in the garden over the last few days. Weather lovely and warm and I have managed to tidy up the back garden ready for winter. I have cut back some shrubs (still waiting for son-in-law to do some of the taller ones). Being 5’ nothing is a disadvantage sometimes! I have also revamped a couple of narrow beds so they look rather naked at the moment but hopefully will be OK next spring/summer.
Spent a long time cutting back a chocolate vine which was taking over one area of the garden. It has ventured out of my garden, into next doors and up a telegraph pole! I cut it back last year but it has just bolted this year (see photo). It is really too vigorous for my small garden so I have now dug it up. The roots went very deep so it may still reappear next spring!
I am expecting something very lucky to happen to me in the near future. While I was busy gardening, one of our feathered friends deposited a heavy load on my head. I think it must have been an albatross as it also dripped all down the front of my top! Can’t say I actually saw the culprit but I have a fair idea of what he had for dinner! After washing my hair and changing my top I ventured out into the garden again but, I must admit, I ended up with a nervous twitch every time I heard wings flapping.
I haven’t touched the front garden yet but there is not so much to do out there. Perhaps that will be done tomorrow if this lovely weather holds.
It was nice enough today for Little ’Un to spend a short time in the garden. He tried to come out by himself – see photo. I also checked on Josie and Jubilee – they are nicely settled in for the winter and the warmer weather has not distrubed them at all.
Now for a cup of coffee, feet up and an evening in front of the TV while catching up on what everyone else on this site has been doing!
