That is a nice collection noticed you have shown them before the slugs a snail have a go at them. I have a number but not that wide a selection ,was surprised not to see my favorite Remember Me.

Can you recommend a miniature hosta for either a pot or border? Variegated foliage is preferable.

Thats the problem with finding a plant one really takes a shine to, it can soon become an addiction, see a fresh one and it beckons you towards it, thats a great collection you have there Gee and none of them nibbled thanks to your gravel, do you use any other slug repellent....

Yes I do use slug pellets but as sparingly as possible. I have also tried copper tape but not completely successful. The gravel certainly helps and I wouldn't dare put any hosta in the flower beds here. Having them on raised benches helps too and not too near a wall. Those pesky creatures are very cunning :)

Remember me is lovely, Bjs, and is on my wish list but haven't yet found it locally. A nursery nearby has an open weekend shortly so I am hoping it will be there.

Cracker crumb, Paradise sunset and Twist of lime are all small, Amsterdam, and I believe there are small ones in the 'mouse' series. If you go online take a look at Mickfield Hostas, all in alaphetical order, photos, description, etc. I find it very useful, or Bowden has a lovely catalogue too. I've had to hide mine, it was just too tempting and there are bills to be paid :)

Thank you for that. Will have a look.

You have a really lovely collection of Hostas there, Gee, makes my six look lonely! I have topped the pots with gravel and, as suggested by somebody on here, put a ring of coffee grounds around the stems. So far, so good.

What a great collection, Gee. And, that Emerald Tioara is lovely in the old clay pot! It(the pot) has real character.

Super collection, I particularly like 'Blue Mouse Ears' and Praying Hands. Could I add a spray of WD40 round the pots also deters the slugs and snails.

Coffee grounds and WD40 noted, thank you for those suggestions. Paul, the pot was one of those I acquired from a big old mansion house some time back, the pots had been buried along with the greenhouse when a bomb was dropped during WW2. Hundreds had been discovered when new owners took over the house and had some trees cleared. They were selling them for £1 each so I bought a few :)

That's great Gee.......old clay pots look great.
I have some old ones that were hanging around an old Manor House called Cowden Hall, not far from where my father in law lived in Horam area, back in the 80's .He used to do the garden and odd jobs for the owners (as well as looking after their kids etc some times)and they cleared lots of stuff from the garden and let him have them. I'm not sure how old they are but certainly old.
