Lakeland birds

We were lucky enough to spend a few days away this week
on the shores of Lake Windermere. As we know, the weather has been pretty grim and no different up there, but it was great to get away and see some local birdlife.

As it was especially cold, we hung some bird treats just outside one of the lodge windows and within a few minutes the birds were flying in….

First to arrive were a pair of Nuthatches….very beautiful but bossy, they would only feed on their own, jabbing at any other bird who dared to land!

Though we do get the Longtailed Tits in the garden at home, we’d never seen them close-up like this, gorgeous colours and so cute…:))

Now who’s peeping??

Along with Blue Tits and Great Tits came the very small Coal Tit, just the one, swinging away, keeping an eye out for those Nuthatches.

Not to forget this cheeky Robin who prefered his treats all to himself on the wall top, thank you very much….:))

Just between Bowness and Ambleside Sticki at White Cross Bay leisure park. We used to holiday here when the children were small, then this last few years they've had a revamp, the lodges are beautiful and the static caravans, the park itself is full of rhododendrons, acers and huge conifers, the gardeners there do a fantastic job....:))

Thanks Dd and Katarina....:))
