A little snow poem from Canada

A little poem for those of you in the UK who just had 1" of snow!

It’s winter in Canada
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.

Oh, how I love Canada
When the snow’s up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I’ll hang around
I could never leave Canada
I’m frozen to the friggin’ ground!

We've had no snow in Wales though,
But it is very cold.
I'll stay here in the pouring rain
Till I am very old. :o)

The snow's in parts of England
And maybe Scotland too.
They're very welcome to it :o)
'Bore Da' to you.:o)

Brilliant! Best poem of the year. Our two centimetres looks quite paltry by comparison.

I dont have snow up here either, infact i cannot remember the last time we had any, like Hywel its very cold, but dry & sunny, the trouble with the UK, least bit of snow that falls the whole country comes to a stand still.

Your poem is great
I want you to know.
You're in a bad state
All covered in snow.

In England today
The snow is so thin
But still we must say
That we are snowed in.

A half inch of snow
Is trapping us here
Nowhere can we go
Till snows disappear.

Despite credit crunch
We have lots of feed
The dog has some lunch
And the budgie has seed.

This bit of white snow
Is not like Cape Breton
That something I know
I'll take a sure bet on. :o)

Great poem NancyM.
Reminds of a comment by the comic Victor Borge, who said the Danish language doesn't contain the 'th' sound because it makes you put your tongue out and it gets so in Denmark in winter, you don't put anything out unless you are certain you can get it back in again!

Folks I must confess that I am not the author of that poem, but it seemed quite fitting here am glad it amused you all the same. TT, I am most impressed with your poem in response!
Our temperatures did drop today, but with the wind chill it seems colder than -13. They did have -35 out west.
I saw a wayward robin on my fence yesterday....poor guy's not about to find any worms in my yard today.

Nancym ~ Very honest to admit not your own work, but you are right in that it fits so well from you today in chilly Nova Scotia ! Pleased you like my reply. :o)

Hywel's poem is very good. Maybe he co-wrote it with his cat, Blodyn. She also writes excellent poetry :o)

Poor robin. I hope he found some furry wellies and lots of food. :o)

Andrewr ~ what about Danish Pathtries ?
They taste lovely, whatever the weather. Lol.

Blodyn is the poet
Or maybe poet-ess.
Hywel is the person
Who's garden's in a mess.

6 Jan, 2009

Yes Blodyn your poem is a great response too!

Oh that so takes me back Nancy.

I went to live in Toronto on 2nd January, 1965. Arrived in a blizzard and it was still snowing on Easter Sunday - I have never been so cold in my life. Suddenly the snow stopped, there seemed to be a few 'in between' days, and then it was summer. Loved it though.
Now living and gardening in Surrey.
