A Hairaising Climb with Simon and Claire Blencathra Via Sharp Edge

*Last weekend Simon and Clare went to the Lakes to climb BLencathra, mountain with an Ascent of 2,850 ft there are 5 different summits the most difficult and famous being via Sharp Edge noted as presenting the most difficult obstacles on any walkers routes in the Northen Lakes. The area on either side of sharp Edge is a severe drop not for the faint hearted. So if you are not put off by these facts then off we go
The start is steep and Sharp Edge can be seen high above us this picture shows a side view of the sharp rocky edge we have to climb to reach the summit
On the way upto Sharp Edge we have to climb upwards via Scales Fell and passing Scales Tarn!
Just look at these views
Now the climbing gets tough
You can see the sheer drop on either sides of the ridge
Simon in the distance
A well earned break
Hurry up Clare
Can you see the climber on the ridge
The Summit in sight now
Starting on the way back down now
Panoramic Views open up before us
Well folks pleased to say we made it down in one piece after an exhausting, challenging and very scary days climbing but the views alone were worth it and thats another Wainwright walk under our belts !
Hope you enjoyed it and we have not tired you all out. thanks for your company;0)*

As this type of activity will never be accessible to me, I found the views and the difficulty of the route remarkable. I really think Simon and Clare are very brave to walk in places like this...they must be very fit!
Thanks for sharing the climb with us, PP. :)

No, Pansy, I think it may clash with something else on another channel - I have picked up on 'Coast' from time to time, but I have to admit I'd rather DO it than WATCH it. :o)
