I have been busy tidying and cutting back in the garden this last week, it was so nice to be able to get after all the bad weather we have had and lovely to see the new growth coming through
The right side border all neat and tidy now.
Polly’s little rockery, filling out nicely now!
The pond area
Left side of garden
Bird bath disguising tree stump which we had to have cut down last year.
View from back of garden towards the house.
Seeds Germinating, which will be used to fill pots in the front and back gardens
Lavertera
Cosmos
Shirley Poppies [I think they need thinning out lol]
Aquilgea these were grown from seeds last year and are now all over the garden, dont mind as the foliage is as pretty as the flowers
Primula “Wanda” delightful little flowers they very quickly make large clumps
Oriental Poppy. Princess Victoria Louise [a grand name fitting fo this lovey poppy]
Primula this is new this year but I have lost the label, hope someone recognises it;0)

Foxgloves grown from seed and now seeded throughout the garden;0)
Primula, just love the colour !
Sedum Autumn Joy
Peony These always put on a great show , beautiful Cerise flowers

It's all looking lovely,Carole.just great to get outside...I think it was the white Primula Denticulata you had from me,as my lilac one didn't do well..although my deep purple one is coming on nicely now...I just split, and replanted your Lysimachia in the long border at the front..plenty of room to grow there :o). I love your Euphorbia..mine didn't do well at all..not sure if it was the same as yours, but a similar colour..

Everything looking healthy and happy !
... and you have some lovely countryside in the distance.

You have a lovely garden PP. I was wondering if you have any wildlife in your little pond. Any frogspawn ?
17 Mar, 2012
Oh Pp. I also know pulmanaria as Soldiers & Sailors, that was my Nana saying! Your garden is looking lovely and that view from the bottom looking towards the house is lovely.

Thanks Sandra yes I have the white primula in the front garden must take a pic for you tomorrow it's lovely, dont remember buying the lavender one!
Thanks Terra yes its looking good now, just waiting for everything to come into flower, we are lucky to live in an area surrounded by the Penninehills even if it is often cold and we lol
Thanks Cinders, I had a frog in the pond last year but when I cleaned it out last week the poor thing was dead, its only a tiny pond and not that deep so the water foze solid over the winter despite my attempts to melt it, its a shame as I was looking forward to some tadpoles this year.

What a great garden, PP! All those lovely flowers and your grass is so green.
Friends of mine call Pulmonaria 'Mary and Joseph'. I suspect it has different names all over the country.
And yes, it is great to be outside in the garden again. Does us all good.

Looking great Pansy and your grass is in good condition....We have heavy rain today, so all work has stopped...The Euphorbia looks a bit like 'Amygdaloides'...:>)

Enjoyed the wander around your lovely garden Pansy, your seedlings are doing very well, we are going to be so busy in the coming weeks, we seem to have similar taste in our likes, anything that seeds itself is always welcome here and aquilegia have long been a favourite of mine, I`m also hoping my poppies appear again this year.
Your pond area and Polly`s rockery are very pretty areas and it must be lovely seeing those hills all the time whilst relaxing in your garden..

Everything looks to be coming along nicely, good to see plants returning after a cold winter, hope we get some nice sunshine soon. Lovely garden Pansy lovely pictures, enjoyed my wander around.

I loved the walk around your Spring garden, Carole ... such a wonderful time of year in the garden with everything coming back for another season ... and your pond looks like it has always been there now ... :o)

Thanks Olivepleased youlike the little wander;0)
Thanks Shirley it is a lovely time of the year, love all the little suprises popping up all over, the pond area has really come on,just wish we had made the pond a little bigger now, but Harry thinks its just right lol
18 Mar, 2012
Thanks Lincs pleased you like the garden, isnt it nice to have similar tastes, we will be able to compare the progress of our seedlings, they are time consuming and I said last year I wasn't going to sow any this year, but can't bear to think of my garden without the Lavrtera ad Cosmos, great pot fillers too, hope your Poppies come back for you, are the Oriental ones or Shirley Poppies?
18 Mar, 2012
Gracious me Carole your beautiful garden looks so neat and well tended it all looks as if its just waiting for the starter gun ready to burst into leaf and flower. Luv griff fireglow mine seems to be taking an age for its new growth to get going, still at least its survived the winter.
18 Mar, 2012
Hi Stroller Thanks for your lovely comments, It has taken me all week to get it like this, but worth it I can just sit back now and watch everything come into flower;0) I also like griff Fire Glow dont remember it having this much colour last year! The family have all just left so time to sit back and relax now and enjoy my lovely gifts;0))

Thanks Sticki and Sandra for your comments, I have reat hopes for my seeds ;0))

Your garden is soooo tidy Carole, I've been working on mine for days, hours at a time, it looks nothing like this. I've got a massive white daisy, think leucanthemum aiglaia, but could be wrong as I bought a few types, and tried for ages to dig it up to split...nothing doing....won't budge lol and it's only been in 1 full season. I need a gardener lol. Some celandine poking their leaves through although all out war was declared when I had the makeover...has to be glyphosate on them, I hate using poison:-( How do you keep yours so manageable? Love your view towards the house too, gorgeous:-)
19 Mar, 2012
Thanks for your comments BA My garden isnt very big and I spend lots of time keeping on top of things, I dont have any real problems or Thug plants, but have noticed some leaves I can't identify in one area, think they are something very invaisive so Im going to attempt to dig them out tomorrow! my main problem is Slugs, I hate them, they always eat my Lupins and Delphiniums and recently some young Salvia which I grew from seeds from Simbad, soul destroyng! Hope you manage to split your Daisy plant and get rid of your Celandine;0))

Pp, today I noticed many Daffodil heads have been nibbled almost to nothing ... the shorter varieties especially ... on closer inspection I found the tiniest slugs within ... so I made up a jug of garlic spray and have sprayed virtually any and every plant that looks damaged ... I really hope it works as I don't use slug pellets ... :o)
19 Mar, 2012
Neither do I Shirley..Not sure if Garlic spray works on them, but worth a try..surely they won't like the smell !
Sending you a PM ...
19 Mar, 2012
How awful ;0( you will have to let me know if your Garlic spray works, Good Luck! I hope it does wipe the Blighters out!!!
19 Mar, 2012
Sandra, you should have seen the expression on Megan's face when she went out out after I had used the garlic spray ... last saw her jumping over the fence ito a better perfumed garden ... lol! .....
Carole, it is supposed to kill Aphids and deter snails and slugs ... I shall let you know if it works .....
19 Mar, 2012
Aww poor Megan, hopeshe has come back again;0))
19 Mar, 2012
