Also known as: Crab apple
Plant folklore: Fruit associated with finding love. Modern apple varieties developed from crab apples so the apples which gave the Germanic gods eternal life, were crab apples.
The village of Egremont in Cumbria has, since 1266, held an annual crab apple fair at which the World gurning championship is held.
In Denmark, the presence of an adulterer makes the fruit wither!!
The mythical paradise “Avalon” means “Place of Apples”. An apple wood wand is necessary for the spells to allow travel to the Otherworld. Crab apples are credited with all manner of therapuetic powers.

Looks very tasty.I remember Egremont well,as I lived in West Cumbria,or
Cumberland as it was known then, for 22 years, and went a few times to watch the "gurning."competitions, although it was only a local occasion then.On another link with Cumbria,I was so sad to hear of the death of the policeman,at Workington,in the floods. That is where I lived, and the area, called Northside ,and its bridge, where it happened,is where I used to work. The river Derwent from Keswick, flows into the sea there, and is a low lying area.Cockermouth, where Wordsworth was born, has been badly hit too,so Not as happy today,to hear this.

Lovely photo you have captured it well. In Folklore we were once all pagans, who s main worship was food nice to see it still celibrates by holding the fair. Travel to other worlds must be hallucinating then.
