Exhausted but contented

I woke up early this morning and as the weather was mild I decided to start pruning in the garden. I have had to put it off so many times because of the weather I was determined to get it done! So by 9 am on a Saturday morning I was out in the garden and went to work to prune the following; 6 buddleias, a black lace sambucus, 3 clematis, 3 roses, 3 dogwood shrubs, a cotoneaster, and 2 spireas! As well as those jobs I did a general tidy up and had a look how everything was doing. I could tell it had been a while since I spent 5 hours working in the garden, bending over, twisting a turning! My lower back is rather sore but I don’t care as it was so nice being out there again getting re-acquainted with my lovely garden. I will add some pictures tomorrow.

My problem every Spring is that I cant remember what I left without labels last October ! "I will remember that"
never works for me. Bags of recycled compost placed specially to use this month, what for ? Oh I know now,
Sweet Peas of course in big pots outside.

Its a good ache though isn't it, g'house only here again, luckily I did sort my roses a couple of weeks back, Mother Nature in her wisdom has provided me with one massive bog garden, the plants and shrubs don't seem to mind though....

Nice sunny day here and I had to spend an hour at the dentist's!
Our alstroemerias were uncovered today so hopefullyt the frost will keep away.

Have had two weeks off with the Easter holidays and the weather has been rubbish! I think I've had half a day in the garden before being bullied indoors by major down pours. And as we go back to school next week - guess what? The weather is getting sunnier and warmer.... grrr.... Having said that my pots full of spring bulbs look lovely and I'm hoping spring will be upon us shortly!

Sounds lovely Amsterdam! I’ve been stuck indoors all day with the rain pouring. Still, I ordered a few plants on line (replacements for plants which I lost last year), and wrote a few hundred more plant labels for my open days. I think it will be better here tomorrow. Its definitely getting milder at last!
