Bathgate ( Paul ) very kindly sent me a packet of seeds collected from his garden before we moved .
It was a challenge for me to get the seeds growing without any heat we were frozen up at one point but I was determined to do the best I could to show my appreciation of the kind gift .
These are photos of plants grown from those seeds ..
Tomato Cherokee Purple
Tomato Money maker
Gallardia Arizona Sun
Love-lies- Bleeding
Rudbeckia Indian Summer
French Marigold
The Butterfly Milkweed didn’t survive, they didn’t get watered when we were on holiday but I still have some seed left over so will be having another go at them ..
Paul your seeds have given me a lot of pleasure both in the growing of them and admiring their beauty .
A great big … Thank you
Amy x

Thank you for your comments ,yes Paul was very kind and generous the seeds he sent gave me something to strive for in those hectic early days when everything was going against us each day I saw a new seedling appear it was a magical feeling ...

Bathgate is such a generous soul. He also sent me some tomato seeds a couple of years ago and it was so nice to grow something different. Your gifts have done really well Amy. I'm sure Paul will be pleased to see the results.

Amy - I'm pleasantly surprised to see everything growing so well for you. Your Cherokee Purples are gigantic. I was actually eating one as I read this. I forgot all about 'Love Lies Bleeding' and laughed when I saw your gorgeous plant. I like those fuzzy red tassels. The seeds are edible by the way - like poppy seeds. Thank you for your wonderful presentation. The Butterfly Weed is a fussy plant to start up. That explains why they could be expensive at the garden center if you can even find them at any garden center. I've lost many of them. However, once it's established, you will be rewarded for years to come and you will never have to touch it again. It's carefree. I admire your persistence.

How did you send the seeds? Did you have to do any precautions? I love that Marigold.

Wells ..I just scattered the seeds onto the soil in plant pots and then thinly covered them with soil then gave them a gentle watering ,we had just moved house at the time I didn't do anything other than that no special precautions except I kept the pots in trays in a frost free room until the spring I then re-potted them into bigger pots until the warmer weather I was then able to plant them outside ..
The Rudbeckias are still in bloom the Love-lies-bleeding have bloomed all summer but are just going over now ..
