The Weather

I am so glad summer is here at last! Cold high winds and heavy rain. Isn’t the British weather great? I’m watching my tall plants with concern when I see how they’re being blown about. So far they seem okay but the lawn is littered with broken twigs and thin branches from the ash tree the other side of the fence. I would like the tree to go but it’s a bit too close for comfort……
If I could hold the camera steady in these winds I’d take a picture of how the garden is looking now. Not that it would seem much since I don’t have one of how it looked when we arrived here a year ago. Suffice to say, apart from the fencing and the pergola it bears little resemblance to the barren square (containing only half a dozen small shrubs) that it was. It now looks like a garden.

I hope your plants are all right. The weather's been rough here also.

Like you the wind is wreaking havoc with all the small twiggy bits of the hedges and trees - still I suppose it's thinning them out. I quite expected to see the Iris's snapped, but they are still standing, obviously my staking was better than I thought. Too windy and chilly to study everything in detail, no doubt there will be a few casualties out there somewhere.
It's always good to look back and see just what you have achieved, even if you haven't a photo to compare.
