Tomato seeds – sprouting!
Anybody seen this before?
A few days ago I was cutting up some tomatoes to make a salad when I spotted these seeds sprouting inside the tomato!
I dug some out & you can see them on the back of my hand!
I can’t remember having seen this ever before. I finished cutting up the tomato & ate it – without any ill effects.
In case you are wondering, no, I didn’t try sowing them!

Wonder what caused that. It must've been stored at a warmish temperature with no effect on the tom itself?
Odd...

I've seen that before, never tried growing them on though. The tom must have been very ripe I guess for that to happen

yes I have seen this with several plants. my sweet peas did this in November and an old pod of runner beans has 2 beans sprouting. Years ago my daughter had an apple with a pip sprouting.

Don 't know how you could resist planting at least one of them!

It’s like tomatoes and bean sprouts combined! I would have planted one, just to see if it lives! I had an apple pip that was growing in the apple, and planted it. Got a little tree, but it died after it got a couple of inches high.

I've never seen that happen. It's rather strange.

The tomato WAS very ripe! It had been sitting a week or two outside the fridge.
I was tempted to sow a few seeds but I had lots of tomato seedlings at the time & couldn't make room for any more!

Never seen that before! Poor little things, how could you not put them in a pot?
