It's Lily Time

It’s our mid-Spring month here in the land downunder, and at the moment I’ve got some lovely Lilies in bloom.
The large blooms in front are Oriental Sumo Liliums
These beauties are huge and the fragrance is amazing.
Here are the gorgeous Oriental Sumos with some Asiatic Lilies in the background.
A gorgeous yellow Asiatic.
A mix of Asiatics and L.A. Liliums.
This is the fabulous Asiatic Matisse ‘Kentucky’. I just love the bold colouring on this one.
A pretty pink Asiatic Lilium.
Finally, here’s my favourite at the moment. It’s the stunning L.A. hybrid ‘Eyeliner’.
I love the dark maroon spotting and that edging.

These photo's are so good Berneih, such a range of colour and shapes, and I can only guess at the heavy scents. :0)

what a wonderful display. do you get the dreaded lily beetle down under? we have suffered with them for the first time this year. thankfully not too much damage done to mine.

Thanks Stickitoffee and Sanbaz.
Pamg and Carole, the perfume out in the courtyard, especially in the early morning and evening, is just wonderful. I must admit I can often be found with my nose in amongst the blooms!!
Linclass, I'll be able to enjoy mine for a few more weeks yet, and in the meantime the Hemerocallis will start to bloom as well. I can't wait for those.
Seaburngirl, thankfully we don't get Lily Beetle here in my corner of northern Oz. I'm not sure about other parts though. There doesn't seem to be any dreaded little creature that causes damage to my Lilies.

They are very beautiful - the winners for me are the ones in the first pic but they are all lovely, and so nice to see as we approach the colder weather here.

It is lovely for us to see your wonderful Lilies Bernieh now that our gardens in the UK are moving into winter. I hope you have a better summer than we have had. :0)

Agree with you about Eyeliner that is special.

Steragram, those huge Sumo Lilies are terrific, I agree. We are of course heading towards the heat of our summertime now. Even though technically it's still spring, it should just be called early summer!
Linda, the summers here in my particular corner of Australia are not something I enjoy at all. Summer is not only fiercely hot here, but the humidity levels are excruciatingly high and then there's the monsoonal rains that usually arrive mid-summer. The best time of year is definitely Autumn through to early Spring.

Neellan, the 'Kentucky' certainly stands out in amongst the pinks and yellows.
Bjs, 'Eyeliner' really is a lovely thing. It's a shame it gets a little lost in amongst those enormous Sumo Lilies.
