They are beautiful Bjs.
I've never seen an Acer in flower before, wonderful. Do you know how old it was before it started to flower? It looks so healthy, I didnt realise they lived so long. Love the branches.

I have 6 Acer platanoides 'Drummondii' along my drive and I often wish I'd gone for A brilliantissium instead.

I bought a red stemmed acer a couple of weeks ago, could be the same as yours, its Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku, I'm looking forward to it looking like yours one day :-)

Dawn
I like the Acer Plantoides Drummondii with its Variegated leaves, I am not sure what sort of autumn show they make,I know they grow larger than any Brilliantissimum i have seen, mine is about 16ft high and around 25 years old, the draw back with them is that inside four weeks the leaves fade to a rather dull green and make no autumn colour at all.To me they are a four week wonder.Personally i would not use them as a specimen tree if one only has room for one or two trees in the garden.
As for seed some do, others i have never seen seed on,in the close up of Brilliantissmum flowers can be seen hanging down ,but never seen any seed.

Acer Brilliantissimum, Acer Brilliantissimum, Acer Brilliantissimum, Acer Brilliantissimum, Acer Brilliantissimum, Acer Brilliantissimum - cut and paste, Bjs - simples. ....or grow ones with easier names, LOL

They really glow, don't they?

Hi Brian, my Acer drummondii stay the same from now until autumn, so that's a bonus. We've had them about 10 years and are about 16 feet but still compact, if you know what I mean. Going to post a pic in a minute :-)
