Last Thursday,we met up again with Carole (Pansypotter) and Harry, for a Christmas lunch,at our favourite pub, high on the Pennines,on the border between Yorkshire and Lancashire..a good meeting point between us all.As you will see,we were very well catered for,and after 3 generous courses, and coffee..we were ‘stuffed’,as was the Turkey.Lol.
It was bitterly cold there, but luckily ,the snow hadn’t arrived,so we were ok.We had a lovely time, and lots of laughs..so another lovely day out with two special friends..
Another little cracker,with mum..:o))

Looks like you really enjoyed each other's company. Lovely little boy too. I remember when i lived in Manchester, some friends took me to the highest pub in ....was it the UK?....at least I think that's what they told me. It was right up at the top...is this the same place?

A lovely happy picture, but it looks as if you all pinched some dinner of the fella in the striped jersey. Shame on you lol.

Isn't Thomas coming along well...how he's grown....and I do believe he looks rather like his doting Grandma....what do you think?

Shirley..we definitely headed for the radiator, not daft are we? Lol..plus Carole came in very handy ,to cut my Turkey up for me..:o) I managed to eat it by myself though ! Note my gammy arm with the pot on,is discreetly hidden by the wall, and under the table ..Lol.Thomas's rosy cheeks are due to him teething...and one appeared today..!
Karen.....we had a lovely day, thank you.The highest pub we know of,is Tan Hill,in North Yorkshire, near Scotch corner, but unlikely to be that one,if you were in Manchester. Was it on top of Saddleworth Moor ,by any chance,as there a few pubs
all around, which are quite high up.Sorry, can't recall the name of it.
Hywel.....it is lovely meeting new friends from GoY,and even better that we seem to like the same things, and share the same sense of Humour,as everyone has a different personality, and don't always 'gel'...we do,I'm glad to say,and thanks for the nice compliment about Thomas.:o))
San.....I think we all feel like that,as though we have known each other for ages, and its only the 4th time we have met up...hopefully,lots more to come...:o)
Stroller..no chance of pinching Harry's dinner...Think he just had a flatter Yorkshire Pudding.Lol...
Thanks,Lou...we were certainly well fed,a little too well, Lol
There was a full page write up in our local paper about the pub,the day after...no,not about us!!!we behaved very well...They do one on a different eating place every week.
Fantastic review..so very good publicity for them, and deservedly so...Do you really think Thomas has a look of me?..first time anyone has said that,Lou...Russell,his mum and dad, other Grandma..but never me...poor little soul..Lol
Clarice...Thank you,a lovely day,we were full to the brim afterwards....we both had a nice snooze when we got home...perfick.!
Grandmage.,..Yorkshire..it is great to meet up,and Thomas is the best little cracker of all..well,I couldn't say
any other, could I.? all us Grandparents are a little biased Lol.
Thanks Cinders..We will all be in Spain, with his other Grandparents..so he will have lots of attention...so,won't he just enjoy that :o))
Thanks Fluff..the hats are rather gorgeous, aren't they?
Not sure about colour co-ordination for Russell and Harry, but Carole and I were quite happy with ours..Lol
Amy...I haven't washed up for two weeks now...isn't life great?..Another two,and it will be back to normal,if they take my pot off,of course...May get our little cracker trained up..its never too early to start...:o))

Yes, saddleworth moor rings a bell. Definitely not nr. Scotch Corner as you say...not that far across! Doesn't matter, just wondered if it was the same pub! :))
28 Nov, 2010
Now you've got me curious..so got my thinking cap on..I remember one called The Cross keys, higher up than Saddleworth church, and The Church Inn..obviously,by the church..Lol..I know it doesn't matter, but it would be interesting,if it happened to be one of those two.
28 Nov, 2010
Not by any church or any other building that I recall! Just on the narrow roadside up on the moor. Cross Keys? possibly! It was many years ago now!

Hi Carole,Russell has printed a copy for you,so will post it shortly..Thomas has grown a lot,and he cut his first tooth yesterday...I think the rosy spots on his cheeks was a good clue .Lol..Stay warm, and cosy..:o))

Thanks Sandra and Russell. Lots of snow here this morning around 8 ins, I have just had a narrow escape at what could have been a very damping experience, Harry and I were out in the garden knocking snow from the Conifers and shrubs when I suddebly realised where I was standing , have you guessed? in the middle of the pond!! I panicked and didnt know which way to walk lol it was fortunate that it was frozen solid and bore my weight, got called a few nice names lol

Oh,Carole,I'm sorry, but I laughed when I read this...I can just see your face, when you realised..and Harry's "choice" words too. Glad you were ok though, but thanks for cheering me up,at what could have been your " downfall" Lol.I'm surprised that Harry didn't run in for the camera..!
Aren't I just the most caring friend ??? :o))
30 Nov, 2010
I glad I made you smile, just put a little blog on about it lol nice to have caring friends!

Oh Pp, could have been a very wet start to the day, glad you survived, leave the snow to do its own thing, much safer!! We have loads of snow now, very pretty, not going out anywhere! I got home from my daughters just in time.Take care.

I'm pleased you enjoyed your lunch, Sandra, notice the ladies were seated close to the radiator! The Christmas tree looks as though it's suspended in the air, or should I get my glasses changed? lol ! Love the rosy cheeks on your little cracker, he's gorgeous. Just walked round to Mums, bitterly cold, no snow thank goodness. : o ))
