Brimham Rocks.

This was another lovely day out,on our short break to Harrogate, recently.Another National Trust place,,very near to Fountain’s Abbey. These fantastic rock formations date back over 300 million years, which have been formed through natural geographical movements, ice ages, and effects of the weather. There are two different routes to take. One is more suitable for people with walking difficulties, and pushchairs etc,and the other one is called the Discovery Trail, which isn’t too hard, but it entails walking over stones,so you have to look where you are walking, but it isn’t really steep,so we took this route. So,are you ready to walk? Here we go…
The first views of these wonderful rocks..
Wait for me,Russell !
This is known as the Dancing Bear.Remember me saying you have to watch your step ? I didn’t..and as I turned back to look at it,walking backwards ..not a good idea..I fell over..all sprawled out,and the camera hit the ground first. The memory card flew out..but as you can see..no damage !.I was ok,and just started laughing..from relief,I think..just shows you should practise what you preach ..:o)
Ready to carry on,now Iv’e picked myself up,dusted myself down….on we go..and approaching the moorland, which is covered in Bilberry bushes, which were in flower, and three kinds of Heather..Common,Bell,and Cross leaved. All we could hear,to break the silence, was the sound of bees ,which were all over these bushes..it was a lovely sound..
No prizes for spotting one.!
Carrying on ,even more lovely rock formations..I think this was meant to be ‘the Eagle’ as a few rocks have names ,which they are supposed to look like, but there was no info,as you went round. It just depends from which angle you take a photo.
.
A place to take time out,to enjoy the lovely views over Nidderdale, looking towards Pateley Bridge.A shame it was very misty, but it was still, and warm, just right for walking..
Almost full circle now,and the Visitor centre and shop is in view.
This wildlife area for birds and insects, etc,is adjoining the centre, and is still ongoing,as fairly new.
This is called,Bug Hotel..:o)
The view from the centre..
Oh,goody…tea boy is here .Lol
Time to take the walk back to the car park now..and I can see two birds watching us,from the top..!!
Heather clinging to life on a rock..Amazing..
I hope you have enjoyed yet another walk with us. We haven;t been here for about 20 years..and so near home too..but I loved it even more this time round, and will be going again, and hopefully in the near future.Well, that is what I call a good morning out,so it was off to Masham next,to a very old Brewery, and a drink in their pub,,and a bit of lunch…. yet another blog to come on that…if you want to come, that is …..

Thank you Cinders, and I appreciate just how lucky we are..a mgnificent place.
Glad you enjoyed it Oliveoil, its so tranquil, and you feel insignificant in those surroundings..Even if you aren't a NT member, you only have to pay £4 for all day,in the car park,so a good day out for families..and picnics.:o)

We have a NT membership too....I'll have to investigate the access and hopefully we can get there one day too. I know Yorkshire has endless places of interest so you can never be stuck for somewhere to visit.
Thanks for sharing these amazing rock formations with us. It is stunning to know these were formed thousands of years ago....nature outshining man's efforts, yet again.
