LOOK THROUGH ANY WINDOW

Look through any window – what do you see (showing my age now I guess ?)
In my case as I was in the middle of my ‘Conifer collections part 1’ blog the weather outside started to clear a little, so I opened the window (office where computer is situated and I have been residing most of the day) and stuck my camera out and started clicking, plus a couple of zoom shots. The following pics give a good indication to a large slice of the layout of my garden here at Foxhollow, always been a bit reluctant to do this sort of photography in the past as it takes away any perceived mystery that the garden might have had.

Really lovely Bluespruce, so neat and tidy - even the grass!
I haven't mowed mine for a few weeks and it looks terrible!

Hi again dee :0)
The lawn isn't so perfect when you get close, mainly couch, and other assorted weeds.
Hywel - possibly a little behind you - school in the 60's, excess in the 70's :0)

I was in school in the 60s - like you then. I was a teenager.

Hopefully I will though i'ts pretty sodden.

You are rightly proud of your garden BS, it's gorgeous either with or without the couch! You must spend an awful amount of time with the clippers in your hands?

Great from any viewpoint - always enjoy your garden photos.

About half of the whole thing Barbara, but certainly the best vista from the upstairs window. if you really want to visit sometime, just let me know, mid August, to mid September is when it's at its peak, but anytime would be fine, seeing as you're GoY royalty :0)))

Awww isn't that lovely..

The conifers themselves are the mystery! Great to share views of your noble obsession. How long has this garden been growing? i.e. how much bigger do you expect these trees to get? Will you eventually have a forest primeval?

Orgratis, started the garden over eleven years ago, but many plants came from a previous garden. Unlikely to ever look like a forest, as I'm forever regenerating the garden, moving stuff out and moving stuff in.

Not that I'm likely to remember, but what is that green geyser looking tree shooting up out of the ground, front, rightish? You're certainly making me pay more attention to the little starry limbed evergreens I see in the nurseries.
26 Oct, 2009
If you mean the tall fastigiate dark green one in the front bed, it's Taxus baccata 'Black Rod'
26 Oct, 2009
Lovely garden as always Bluespruce...it must be very calming to walk among your trees & heathers.
26 Oct, 2009
Castigate me for "fastigiate" if you must, but a quick peek in the dictionary says "rising to a pointed top"? This dark yew appears rather spreading rather than tapering? You are such a specialist, thanks.
26 Oct, 2009
Didn't even recognize the word 'geyser' at first Orgratis, so was just trying to determine which tree you were referring to. Some fastigiate plants don't always do what they are supposed to do :0)

Yew don't say!
27 Oct, 2009
very good :0)
