Well done Clarice on your prompt action for Ebb..

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed the little fish will be okay. xxx

Good idea to check now and then on Flo and the others, just in case a substance has got into the pond water ...

I know what you mean about having a number of years when your pets all seem well, and then several ill in quick succession... It seems to happen that way, doesn't it ...

Hoping for the best for Ebb... you've had enough worries over the past 12 months or so....

you need to test your water carol, isnt this your second death since you got new ones, mine have been fine since getting my water tested and put right, poor thing

looks really pale clarice, you could get some tonic from the petshop and try putting it in the bowl xx

It would seem goldfish do this when they have eaten too much. They do recover but it can take a few days.
Best wishes
Linda

Oh dear, it's so distressing to see a creature in difficulties. I hope he'll be all right. Good you 're not giving up on him/her.

Such a shame, Clarice, after all your efforts. I wonder if you had any thunder storms because I believe they can cause problems for pond fish.

18 Jul, 2010

18 Jul, 2010

Thats an idea Holly, but Gee you may be right about the thunderstorm we had one late Thursday night, and Friday it kept coming to top, and if i go back alot of years ago i lost a fish after a thunderstorm so bet it was that, think problem solved Gee :)))

18 Jul, 2010

Sorry to hear this Clarice...but at least you know its probably not the water.....

18 Jul, 2010

Dont think its water, and i only use rain water in the pond aswell, i never overfeed them either, personally i think Gee could be right.

18 Jul, 2010

Yes..seems so...chin up...:o)

They do this when constipated too. add a teaspoon of epsom salts to the bowl and see if that makes a difference. It wont kill it so nothing to lose so to speak.
Thundery conditions reduce the oxygen in the water so all the fish would be suffering, the biggest ones first as they have a greater demand for oxygen. Hope it recovers for you.

I have one that is suffering from bloat/dropsy, it looks like an opened oine cone. It has been like this for 8 weeks now and is resisting all tretament and more importantly death.
