At last!

I have a garden. It’s small, but it’s beautiful and very manageable. I’m over the moon! I will plant more, but it is pretty much planted. We spent the last two days digging about 40 x60L compost into the clay. Exhausted, but very happy!

The empty pots are waiting for patio clematis which should arrive tomorrow. I’m also waiting for a tall Holly ‘JC Van Tol’ which has wonderful red berries and has no prickles. I will add a few more Hostas. Tescos have good ones at £4 each atm. Possibly another fern too, and a few more small flowering plants for the sunny side.

It's a striking, smart design, Karen. You'll make the neighbours envious ;-) It looks very Mediterranean in appearance. I'm sure you'll get lots of use from it - a real 'outside room'.

Looks really lovely, Karen, I can imagine your excitement!!! Love the first pic, the aerial shot! I'm really looking forward to seeing all your newly planted and potted plants flourishing! Have a restful weekend!

It’s going to be really splendid when all your shrubs have grown. You will sit surrounded by greenery. What could be nicer? It should be easy to manage too. Perhaps you will put in some kind of automatic watering system? Do keep us posted as your garden matures. I think it is great.

Thank you Garden leaves, and welcome to Goy. I have moved 500 miles south from Eastern Scotland where I gardened on 2/3 A re plot, to a new build in North Dorset where I have 10x11m. It’s a massive change!

Thanks Ange, that’s exactly what I wanted. A mediterranean courtyard garden. X

Thank you SBG. I am so pleased with it, and it will be even lovelier once the plants have grown. But there’s something very special about a newly planted garden when everything is tidy and fresh!

That’s it exactly Feverfew. It will feel quite secluded in a few years time. Bu5 I am enjoying it already! Yes, a watering system is on the cards for the future.

Thank you Shirley. I’ve been planting today! We’ve had another dinner outside and the whole thing is just lovely to look out on to from the house. What a difference from the mud flats we moved in to!

Just found this Karen! It is looking great and can't wait to see everything growing too.
I love the design and how you are making the most of the space.
I am not surprised you are excited!

Wow it's looking great Karen, much larger than what I'd thought.
I've been away in Cornwall so just catching up. You must be very pleased
now they've finished and better weather is here too. It's so exciting having a new garden!

Thank you Rose, and thank you Janey. I’ve been planting perennials today. Still need some more though!

I really like the design of your new garden and totally understand your remark about a newly planted garden feeling special and fresh.
I'm trying to catch up with all the news on goy having been out of it for a cple of years so I'm surprised to see you in a new garden and location but you've risen to the challenge superbly.
I've totally changed my garden around as well, no more grass, thank goodness and loving the zen-like quality of it. My big surprise was how much joy i get from the clean lines and design that shine through, in the winter, again very Zen.
Lovely choice of bricks, very warm effect! I can't wait to see it develop and mature. Go girl...

Resin one, thank you so much for your considered compliment! I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in ditching the grass. We do have grass at the front at the moment. We’ll see if it grows well. If it doesn’t…..I’m loving being in Dorset. It’s been along old exile for me, but I’m back in England now. :)
