RHS Rosemoor June 2020

I received the email last week that rosemoor was about to reopen for rhs members only, so with a nice shiny membership card in my wallet I thought why not, and lets go for it. I think that Kim my wife would have made the booking phone call herself, if she could have beaten me to the phone just to get me out of the house and give her a bit of me time.
So I made the booking and was surprised at how soon I could visit, I thought that at least it wouldn’t be until the following week, but last Friday it was and the weather although on the change did not look to bad for the day.
Friday morning came and I was up with the larks, get the dog out, charge my camera battery, make sure all the memory cards were empty and that was me ready.
Rosemoor is about a 50 mile drive for me and the way there is quite scenic so a good start. I arrived at the allotted time, got all my gear ready and that was me all ready for the off.
Rosemoor is set in some beautiful grounds and as soon as you enter there is plenty to see, the different gardens are really well thought out and there is plenty of different plants and planting to keep you occupied, as you carry on walking around some of the trees I imagine, you will only see in this sort of garden as well as some of the more exotic plants. So what I did this time was to photograph the name of anything I did not recognise rather than rely on my not so trusty plant id app at a later date.
Anyway here are some of the photos that I took on the day

I am no expert but all your photos show real skill, and I love the ones which are mostly greens - the difference in shapes and textures is beautiful. Thank you for recording your visit; really interesting.

Lovely blog and fab pics, Davey. I feel like I’ve had a day out at Rosemoor too, thanks to you sharing with us.
Beautiful lush, verdant planting and gorgeous blousy blooms too! I hope my Erigeron flowers prolifically like the one you’ve captured!!
Thanks for posting!

Great blog, Dave! Glad you enjoyed your day out at Rosemoor! Good of you to show us a few photos of your walk about in the gardens with their fabulous plantings! I bet you have more than enough pictures to make up at least one more blog, so how about it?

Knowing me I'd have taken sufficient photos to fill half a dozen blogs! :D :D :D

Thank you all again for your lovely comments, rosemoor is definitely a great place to visit, but even better news is that the garden house at Yelverton, which is only about 10 miles from me, has re-opened for weekend visitors. It has not got grandeur and formality of rosemoor but it is really a cracking garden to visit, so hopefully when this weather decides to ease a wee bit I will be taking myself of to there for a little wonder

I really enjoyed reading through your blog as it's five years since our last visit to RHS Rosemoor. I recognised the huge tree in your first photograph, a stunner! Thanks for the tour ... :o)

These photos are superb and have such depth and clarity. I love your choices and am so glad you enjoyed your day out. We also like The Garden House very much - pity the lovely cafe won't be open!!
