Woodland Plants For Shade

I’ve been studying spring flowering woodland plants to suit my woodland and I’ve been purchasing various. A question rather than a blog, do you know of any good online suppliers that specialise in more unusual shade loving plants. Long Acres (plants for shade) have been good and Beth Chatto’s nursery but I have some on my list that are out of stock at these two sites and google shopping isn’t throwing up any suppliers.
Thanks :-)

Thanks Eirlys, burncoose and crocus don’t have what I need, I’ve looked at Edrom, they have a wide selection but OOS on some, I will look the others you suggest, thank you

Dawn, its a tricky time of year for the nurseries. I think if you were to wait a month, you would get what you want. I have been finding a lot of what I want is OoS as well.

You could also try Cotswold Garden Flowers, also Beeches Nursery in Essex

Arh thanks Karen, that makes perfect sense.
Andrew, I’ve looked at Cotswold but not Beeches, thank you

It is often the way, can't get everything you want from one supplier. I, like Karen, am waiting to see if some plants I would like become available, when the nursery sees what dormant stock comes to life.

Norwell [or it may be spelt Northwell] nursery run by Andrew Ward. he is near Newark and I have had some excellent shady ladies from him. Also Bob Browns CGF is good. I have had plants from both of them.

Exactly Siris, frustrating. I am probs a month or so early.
I’ve tried Bob Brown but not Norwell, thanks Seab.
Thanks Sheila. I will look.

Thats why you need the RHS Plant Finder Dawn!! did you not buy it?

You don't need to buy it - it's on the RHS website

It appears so Dotty, no i didn't purchase.
The problem I have is finding suppliers that have what I want in stock. Some have the plants listed but then OOS. Maybe it is the time of year.
Thanks Andrew, I will visit the Rhs site.

That's was a couple of weeks ago wasn't it Sheila, I hope it's gone to the correct address!

Not like having the actual book though Andrew! and the RHS is limited in the info they give online unless you are a member!!

Dawn, I have bought plants from LeClosDarmoise, nursery in Brittany. Philippe has been very helpful & the plants are good quality & reasonably priced. I ran a search for 'woodland' & these 46 came up:

Afraid it got lost Dawn, so they’re going to refund me :(

Thanks GreenF, I will look at them.
Nooo Sheila, what a shame, maybe it was out of stock and was never posted.

Dawn, I now have a copy from another supplier - finding it useful already. Wish it was spiral-bound though, it’s very thick and won’t stay open!
Have you managed to source the plants you want?

Dawn, this bad weather will delay us enough to give us a chance to reassess what will survive in our gardens before we put in any orders.

Great Sheila, came just right to enjoy whilst this darn weather batters us. Shame it’s bulky.
I’ve ordered a few more from Beth Chatto and Longacres plants for shade, like Siris said, one supplier never stocks all on the list.
Siris, spot on and thankfully not too many plants have started to shoot, still safe in their winter slumber.
