wow doesn't the garden look wonderful in the winter sun.
That hellebore is going to be stunning when it opens, it is offering so much promise.
my Hamamelis is no where near ready to flower. But it usually is a late one feb/march for me.

Thanks Dotty.
Seaburn, the sun only shone for about five mins. I have another hamamelis next to this one and that's not in flower yet.

How beautiful is your garden in those 5 mins of sun in your first 2 photos.

Thank you, I dashed out while it was sunny. Did you see the Iris foetidissima :-)

Hi Meadow, yes they are Betula utilis var. jacquemontii 'Silver Shadow' , I have six planted together, I wish they'd bulk up a bit :)

Isn't winter sunshine great? The first two pics are really beautiful in the low light. You must be pleased you caught it while it was still shining! You have a great selection of winter colour there - I love the Arums, they look bursting with health!

It's nice to see you had some sunshine Dawn. I hope it wasn't too cold.
Your garden is so interesting to look at, I think shrubs and trees come into their own during winter time ... and it's cheering to see some plants showing signs of spring in their growth already :)

Stera, yes the sunshine although brief was lovely. I like the arum a lot too.
Hywel, it’s fairly mild here at the moment :)
I agree the shrubs and trees are so vital in winter. I have one border that’s mainly perennials and I’m struggling to like it in Winter. My winter jasmine is so much better after pruning how you told me how to do it :-)

It's mild here too Dawn.
I'm glad your jasmine responded to the pruning.

Lovely blog Dawn. I thought I had lost my Arum italicum, but no...two new leaves have appeared, so I am happy! Your garden is beautiful all year around. :)

Lovely blog and pics, Dawn! Very cheering on a post Christmas/New Year period!

Thanks Amy, you're like me, you see something nice and need it.
Thanks Karen, I'm pleased your Arum is up, love em.
Happy New Year Kate, it's onwards and upwards from here.

Still a tiny bit of light in the sky at 4.30 today......the worst is passed! :)

I thought it was slightly lighter tonight too :-)
My dear dad used to say you begin to notice the evenings are lighter the third week in January :-)
This mild weather is so welcome, if we can get Jan out of the way mild (if) we only really have Feb to deal with and it's a short month so all good.

Rich, bright, beautiful colours - not usually something we associate with the month of January! I love the picture of your winter jasmine and the dogwoods too. All looking lovely.
