I hadn’t seen my little friends for a while and wondered whether they had come to harm during the very harsh temperatures we have had here of late.

But they’re ok. Phew! Thought you might like to see a more close up photo. Sorry, it’s still not as clear as I would like but it was again taken out of a pretty dirty window!

What a pretty little bird - I have never seen a crested tit or a bearded tit for that matter - I believe the crested tits can be seen in Scotland and Bearded tits can be found in reed beds such as those found in Norfolk - they can be identified by their calling Ping Ping - Marigold

Thanks for all your lovely comments. I think they are found mainly in the Caledonian Forest in the UK. We had a bird watch weekend here a couple of weeks ago, and the leaflet they hand out for identification included the crested tit, so I think they may be rather more common here in Belgium. Perhaps I'm not so lucky after all! I'm still pleased to have them though and to be able to share my pictures of one.
