Golden Fox's sleep out.

I glanced out the window while rollating backwards round the kitchen on Tuesday. I spied gingery fur amidst the ‘Shagpile’ of the raised circle of weedy soil I wish was not there. First I thought it was ginger feral cat. Then I realised Golden Fox, or son of same, was having an outdoor snooze in the magic foxy circle, where they gambolled as tiny cubs, and mum and dad fox left rats and fluffy bunnies for the cubs for lunch! Soon demolished with relish. Later they gambolled on the lawn and flowerbeds and trashed my lovely garden, in June of all months. Golden fox stood out as a very handsome gift for Romford’s lady foxes. Furry ears, a wise face, rather than wary and crafty, like the 3 other cubs.Eventually they left home when big enough to jump fences. I went backwards to get the Monopod and backwards to the backdoor. Forwards to take some pictures. A tiny tap on the doorknob made him look up etc.
I thought it was Ginger Feral but his ears were a bit large.
Then I saw it was a handsome male fox. Females are thinner with sharp wary faces and a lot smaller.
The Golden Boy…..watch out ladies.
Just to show that the garden looks rather nice in the high summer. Foxy would be between those 2 end leafy apple trees……with no apples….after I pruned and greasebanded them!!!
Two other friendly winged creatures. The lady was not impressed, she flew away to find a more congenial meeting place, and a better looking chap.

I am so glad there are no foxes in my garden any longer. It has taken a while, but they seem to be enjoying their lives in the park now, so we are all happy, especially Sophie who no longer gets mange.

Thanks Libet! I can always tell it's Golden Boy. He has a huge brush. His 3 sisters were tiny creatures. One had a damaged back leg. He came right up to me and nipped my shoe, as a very tiny cub. Noisy mum, very scrawny, did a yip call, they fled back behind the shed. After that they wouldn't come near me. Dad was tall and rangy. How they produced such a handsome fox I just don't know. Mum, very wary, only came by to feed them. She did not stay under the shed. When they left, some of the fox fleas jumped on my trousers.....boy do they pack a wallop......It's amazing what flora and fauna comes into a 40 by 50 foot garden. So I know what problems dogs might have with garden foxes.

He is indeed a very handsome Fox, Dorjac ... I hope you are coping a little better now? ... :o)

Thanks Shirley. It's been very busy with tasks I am unused to. In- patient visits, scooting to wards kilometres away on a rollator, or being wheeled by a porter or friend. Friends on Boxing Day got my garden issues sorted out well. Birds fed, compost box out, pots stood up. Another visitor moved furniture back from where Occ Ther bossily moved them Grrrr!! A procession of nurse, doctor, morning carer. A gorgeous vase of lillies, baby Poinsettia and Pink Azalia are bonuses. Lots of kindnesses too.....Happy New Year to you.

Dorjac, your garden is wonderful and I can understand how disappointed you'll be not being able to get out there and keep it up. Good news that friends sorted things for you :)
I hope your injury heals completely without the need for surgery...indeed it's frustrating to deal with incapacity so sure hope it's all good news after 6 weeks of healing. Many years ago I broke my tibia and fibula and was in a cast (groin to toes!!) for 7 months...it's no joke adapting even simple tasks (getting a bath was hilarious as an example!...lol).
I sure hope as we go into another year at midnight tonight you will find the days ahead full of happy gardening and no rollator! Take care...and Happy New Year.

Excellent news to have friends sorting out the garden issues ... I undestand the frustrations! ... The plants & flowers will cheer you up too ... have a happy new year ... :o) x

I have just found out that my sister- in -law broke her right humerus over Xmas!!!! It's a bit much trying to upstage me! Fell over her bed slippers. She was turfed back home same day, with a sling. The senior district nurse has just been at 5pm to dress a wound on OH's leg. Good old NHS trying to cope with all us oldies chucking ourselves about our homes. Dangerous places. Our good neighbours saw the fox too yesterday. He digs for worms in their lawn....not ours....the worms there taste nicer. Tried mining under our gazebo from nextdoor to set up home for his next floozie recently. They blocked it with some stones. I bet he still goes on trying under our shed while the garden is quiet. Thanks Whiston lass and Shirley for encouraging words. Just trying to imagine you in the bath waving your leg in the air W Lass.

That's bad news for your sister-in-law, Dorjac ... our daughter fell down 3 steps at her office door just before Christmas ... torn ligaments and hobbling around on crutches now ... :o(

Shirley, falling on 3 small steps is exactly how I broke my tibia and fibula...I hope your daughter has a good recovery. I have a weakness now in my right leg after the breaks (with no physio afterwards....big mistake!!) and fell many years later and tore the ligaments that wrap around the ankle...I hope your daughter is able to work the ligaments to prevent chronic pain and stiffness...it can be worse than a break, so the doctors have told me.
Dorjac...it was quite a production at bath time. Eventually we put a stool in the bathtub, put in water and I sat on the stool with my leg propped up on the edge of the bath. Precarious and plenty of laughs & embarrassment...but needs must! lol

What a beautiful fox, Dorjac. I used to see foxes regularly when I lived down on Romney Marsh but only rarely now up in the woods.
So pleased you are progressing and getting some much needed help. I do hope the new year finds you and OH back on your feet and able to enjoy your garden again. Heavy rain here today so I have not ventured out yet - Millie does not like the rain but we will have to go sometime :)
