'Teeth of the Lion'

The Dandelion is a member of the sunflower family, the name came from the French, ‘dents de lion’ (“teeth of the lion”) – look at the serrated leaves. First found in Europe, it is now widespread as it was taken around the world for its medicinal and culinary uses. Dandelions are popular with beekeepers as they are an early source of nectar.

I leave some wild flowers in my garden for the insects. I know lots of people don't like them but I think of the insects they benefit. I don't care if it isn't all prim and propper. That's not natural.

I feel exactly the same way Hywel, my 'lawn' is covered in daisies and a few dandelions! My grandaughter loves to make daisy chains though so its worth keeping them! :)

I was going to put weedkiller on some until i saw an early butterfly feeding on them, i have left them a while but deadhead them before they seed all over!!! Did you see Alice frying them and eating them? on her programme the edible garden
