Falling ash could be good for gardens???
Volcanic ash can fertilize soil, help it retain moisture and encourage good bacteria. Prof J Davidson of Durham university has said ‘ In general volcanic ash is good as it is full of all kinds of elements and nutrients that regenerate the soil’.
But dont get your hopes up, as at the moment the amount of ash is minimal in the UK and hopefully this will continue because depending on the chemical make-up of the ash it could be good, but it could be bad if it has high levels of Fluorine it can be poisonous to humans and plants. Ah well.
