Ayrlies Garden in Auckland New Zealand

I have been laid up over the past two weeks with a pinched nerve in my lower back, after a twisting injury sustained whilst restraining an aggressive patient on the psychiatric ward I nurse on. So cannot get onto my main computer to do a blog on my visit to my sons & their families in America ….. All the photos we took have been loaded onto that computer, & am now having to use my iPad instead. So bored & frustrated watching the weeds growing in the garden ….. & not easy trying to look after our 9 week old golden retriever puppy, who joined our household just 3 days before my injury. As there is virtually nothing I want to watch on Sky or main TV, I thought I would put up some pics of Ayrlies Garden in Auckland, which is open to the public at certain times of the year.

Wish you very soon recovery. I do not know if you have any ointments made from rattlesnake poison there, they are very good for injuries like yours.
This garden is beautiful.. One of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

Thanks everybody. Puppy snoozing at my feet. Heading off to the city in another hour to have physio with a guy who specialises in back injuries of this kind. This was arranged by the hospital I work for, as was having physio locally but was causing a lot of pain with sciatica down one side. Pain into my hip & knee has been very debilitating, but hoping for an improvement with this new physiotherapist. Supposed to be back at work in two days, but need reassessing by my Dr tomorrow. Ayrlies Garden is stunning, & Auckland being sub-tropical, a lot of exotics do very well in that region.

Katarina ...... We don't have any snakes at all in NZ, but rattlesnake ointment sounds fascinating. I wonder how it works on muscle & damaged nerves? I am guessing it must have some anti-inflammatory naturally-produced things in it.

Hi Dwyllis. IN Slovakia we do not have rattle snakes as well, as you know. But we have snake farms specialising on production of snake venoms for different medical purposes and as antivenin. I am sure you have t as well, although maybe you do not make ointments from it.
It is complex effect, but for sure not anti-inflammatory. We do not use physiotherapist if you have radiating pain. What causes pain is mostly spasm and the best way is if it subsides sponatneously. Rattle snake venom is a strong desensitizer, which causes, that pain and subseguents (painful) spasms are reduced very quickly. However, you have to take strong anti-inflammatory as add-on, what you probably know (e.g. aceclofenac). Not all NSAIDs have comparable anti-inflammatory effect.
This rattle snake venom is used here also on hemorrhoids and arthtralgias. :)))

These gardens are gorgeous Dwyllis, thankyou for sharing with us.
Lets hope the physio treatment helps heal your back injury, I can well understand your boredom but you just have to take it easy for a while, don`t want to be incapacitated even longer because you were impatient....
