Broken amaryllis opened

Thanks to Lori and her tip to sugar the water a little, they opened up fine after their break off by falling cat. Glad to see them again

Gorgeous, is it a double? Nice trick with the sugar water :) I decapitated a lily yesterday, by carelessly whipping the garden hose around! I was so mad at myself!! I stuck it in a vase of water hoping that it might bloom anyway. What's the sugar/water ratio that Lori told you about?

It is a double, Blossom peacock, this was its second go around this spring! Oops, sorry about the lily. Lori just said sugar, so I sprinkled in a little. Two pinches to a cup was what I did. :-)

Wow not seen a double before, and such a delicate colour, glad it survived!

That's a tip I shall have to remember, especially when my Amaryllis seedlings begin to flower.

Last year I saw some double Amaryllis for sale for the very first time. I'm afraid I didn't like the look of them at al & I'm afraid I still don't. But perhaps I ought to see one in flower for myself before condemning them out of hand.

I feel the same about so called "blue" roses & I HAVE seen plenty of them in many variations but I still continue to dislike them.

Thank you Avis. They are so big right now up on the steps, living the high life....lol.

Thanks GG. All my amaryllis went dormant just this month so I think I'll be seeing the flowerrs later in the year than last. And hopefully not break this one off again. :-)
