...this part of my garden was very overgrown, the conifer had suffered badly over the last 2 winters and the bottom was all dead/brown. So I 'lollipoped' it. I have also completely removed a very old straggly euonymus that had reverted to green and cut out the undergrowth of the pyracantha that was blossom-less. It has really opened up the area and I have planted a couple of heucheras and ajuga. The seat was already there but was completely overgrown.

Thanks you all. The seat is a bit rickety to sit on I think - I may just put a pot of something on it!

PP, I thought of you when I chopped the conifer - was it you that said if anything stood still you 'toparised' it?

Lol, yes thats me Gee, its quite some time since Ive had my shears out, think I may have a look round tomorrow to see if there is anything needs a little trim lol
